Lunch Club Helper

Description

As a volunteer Lunch Club Helper, you will welcome the people that come along and encourage them to feel as comfortable as possible while chatting and playing games. The role will also involve helping our friendly team of volunteers set up our halls, serving lunch/meals and tidying up afterwards.

The role requires a PVG (Disclosure) check, which will be paid for by Age Concern.

Lunch clubs run from 10 am - 2.30 pm with some time for prep added on, therefore, if suitable, we are looking for volunteers to help out for 5½ hours.

In this role, you are making a difference in people's lives who may feel lonely or isolated; it's enjoyable and rewarding also. You will become part of a friendly team of volunteers who share the same passion for helping others.

Organisation aims and objectives

Promoting the interests of older persons in our community, proving lunch clubs with available transport, general advice and information supplied and wheelchair loans.

Frequency and commitment details

Weekly, from last fortnight in August until December 2022

Restrictions

Travel details: Currently only looking for volunteers for the club that runs in Albertslund Hall in Newton Mearns - own transport required
Minimum age: 16

They are looking for Cooks who can prepare simple cooked lunches for groups between 5 and 15 people. Groups meet once or twice a week but there is no need to commit to both days. Groups run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch served at 12 noon; the cook can start at a suitable time to achieve this, finishing when clearing up has finished. Each venue has a good size and well-equipped kitchen. Lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

Social Group Assistant

How can you have fun, gain confidence and help others at the same time? By becoming a social group assistant with Express Group Fife! Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for almost 50 years. They provide social group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for a Social Group Assistants for their groups listed below. Activities involved: setting up the hall (tables and chairs, but not at every location), socialising with service users, serving tea/coffee, taking part/assisting in activities (e.g. board games, bingo, crafts). There is always a Group Coordinator facilitating the group and very often also a Case Worker who can work individually with service users when needed. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

  • ENeRGI (East Neuk Recovery Group Initiative)
ENeRGI SCIO is a mental health charity based in the East Neuk of Fife. Volunteers are needed to join its committee. You will be responsible for governing the charity, helping to shape policy and its vision for the future. ENeRGI is a SCIO registered charity established since 1995. Committee Members are asked to attend Committee Meetings, which take place once every two months, and usually last 1 hour to 90 minutes, and the ENeRGI Annual General Meetings, usually held in December. Committee roles available or you can remain as an ordinary trustee with just attendance and input expected. This is an opportunity to gain new skills and contribute to a great community project.
