Walk Leaders are the most integral part of a Health Walk. From offering a friendly welcome at the start of the walk, to keeping walkers safe and happy during the walk, they make the hundreds of walks taking place across Ayrshire fun, accessible and free!
All volunteers receive our Paths for All Walk Leader training to give them the skills and confidence to lead walks in their community.
They also receive ongoing support from either a local project coordinator or one of our Paths for All Development Officers, progression training and the opportunity to be part of something big that is really making a difference to people in South Ayrshire.
Volunteers get the opportunity to be involved in our annual Volunteer Awards which recognises their achievements and can be part of other events and campaigns throughout the year.
Our volunteers tell us the main reason they love being a Walk Leader is being able to support people in their communities to get active. Seeing walkers improve their health, wellbeing, confidence or enjoyment of the walk is what our Walk Leaders tell us keeps them coming back to volunteer week after week.
With hundreds of Walking for Health projects managing Health Walks across Scotland, there are lots of volunteering opportunities to take advantage of. If you're interested in becoming a volunteer, get in touch with us today.
