Description

You'll use your professional skills to help groups overcome operational challenges, become better equipped for the future, and tackle inequality in sport.
Roles are flexible and work around your schedule. We share opportunities relevant to you. Most of our volunteering support is delivered digitally, so easier to start supporting our members.

We know representation matters, which is why we want our volunteers to reflect the diversity of the community groups we work with. We are actively encouraging applicants from ethnically diverse backgrounds and other minoritised groups to apply as we are currently under-represented in this space. You will get to meet the inspirational faces of community groups across the UK and immerse yourself in their work; use your existing skills in a rewarding fashion whilst developing new ones; guide members to become more inclusive; network with other like-minded individuals helping grassroots sports groups survive; and so much more. Our volunteers say that making a positive difference to our members is what they most enjoy about volunteering at Sported.

Organisation aims and objectives

Sported is a leading ‘Sport for Change’ charity, helping to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people across the UK. We pair volunteers with skills from the business sector (strategy planning, fundraising, PR & Marketing, finance, governance and evaluation & impact) with our member community clubs to support them in becoming more effective and sustainable.

Join our team and become a Collection Tin Co-ordinator in your local area. We will provide you with five collection tins and you then find locations for them in your area. This could be in shops, public houses, takeaways or petrol stations. You then check them and bank the money when the tills are full. Blether Buddie

Blether Buddies make weekly friendship telephone calls to lonely and isolated adults in Dundee to help them feel more connected and valued. • Do you like meeting/speaking to new people? • Can you spare an hour or two at any point in the week? • Do you have access to a phone? • Do you have internet access? • Do you like to have a chat? We are looking for volunteers to make Blether Buddie calls, which can last from 20 to 45 minutes followed by completing quick online monitoring form. The opportunity is flexible and after the initial match you will arrange calls between yourself and your Buddie. This lets you change times and days to suit you both. Full training is given and staff will be on hand to support during office hours. Procedures are in place for out of hours.

Native Tree Nursery work
  • Eadha Enterprises
Eadha is one of Scotland's leading Aspen conservation charities. Aspen is a rare native tree but one which is potentially very useful and productive. Aspen rarely sets seed so propagating it is challenging. We survey the remote areas of the country to find surviving trees from which we then extract root cuttings for propagation. We then use a specialised lab to generate planting stock using tissue culture methods. They supply us with small plants which we pot up and grow on in our nursery. Aspen supports a more wildlife than any other tree and we develop woodland projects into which it can be planted. We are also growing other native trees and wildflowers. We are looking for volunteers to help us in our nursery at Bishopton to help with propagation. pot on the aspen trees. Activity helper with Caithness KLICS
  • Caithness KLICS [Kids living in Careing situations]
Caithness KLICS support young people with Care responsibilities for a family Member. To enable the young person to socialise with peers, they affer a social club in Fridays, Tuesdays & Thursdays in Thurso. Volunteers are needed to help with activities, set up and tidy up. It could be board games, or activities inside or outside games, help with snacks and general hanging- out with the young carers while at the centre.
