Skilz is a non-profitable charity, and our mission is to enhance the lives of individuals and communities by providing a diverse range of opportunities, which promote Health and Wellbeing for all.
Skilz Community Health & Wellbeing Project is a person-centred and community needs-led project in Arbroath. We offer free sport, physical activity and recreational activities which is open to the community. Sessions are inclusive to all; however, we work with partnership organizations to specifically support those experiencing poverty, mental health issues, social isolation and loneliness, poor confidence and self-esteem, those who are physically inactive and those who are managing long-term health conditions.
Our staff host groups across the week that are inclusive for ALL. Providing the opportunity for anyone to take part in the sessions that we offer. The staff oversee the running of the following groups and provide a welcoming experience for regular and new participants. The staff also work in partnership with other organisation around the local area to provide FREE groups for the local community. These include:
• Walking group,
• Crochet for beginners,
• Blether & Brew,
• Seated Exercise,
• Gentle exercise,
• Digital Skills,
• Social Drop In,
• Art group, Yoga,
• Leisure Photography,
• Table tennis
• Advanced Long Distance Walking Group.
What can you expect to be doing?
• Setting up and taking down equipment
• Session Planning
• Delivering sessions
• Interacting and befriending with all participants
• Completing risk assessments
• Travelling between multiple local venues
Were looking for someone with
• Experience in working with members of the public
• A friendly and outgoing personality
• Good communicational skills
• Good organisation skills
• Effective group working skills
• Preferably has a driving license (not necessary)
We ask for a flexible commitment throughout the week. Most sessions last 1-2 hours. There is a group that runs everyday of the working week so hours can be flexible to suit.
