The Women’s Group has been running since 2015, as an answer to autistic women and women with a learning disability having a shared, safe space in which to talk, take part in meaningful activities and learn life skills. Post Covid the group now meet regularly in Kirkintilloch and the Allander resource centre to take part in movie nights, pamper sessions and arts and crafts..

Experience required: Good communication and listening skills are essential. An interest in supporting autistic women and women with a learning disability to become more independent.
Attitudes: Empathy with people who have disability. Patience, kindness and tolerance. An understanding of the potential of arts and crafts, pamper sessions and social outings have on women with additional considerations.
Experience of working with disabled adults and young people would be helpful.
Travel details: Weekly sessions, Wednesday evenings, 6.30-8.30pm at the Allander Resource Centre in Milngavie.

Expenses details: More details can be found in the volunteer policy and handbook. Details of how expenses are claimed will be explained at induction, but public transport, mileage at 0.45p whilst volunteering and any refreshment costs to the value of £3.50.
