Dementia Friendly East Lothian (DFEL) exists to transform the lives of people living with dementia and the people who love and support them. We work to help people live not just exist, we help people to remain connected to their communities and support people with things to do, places to go and people to see. You will be involved in:
o Helping to set up and set down for the session.
o Being a travel buddy
o Welcoming members to each group/session or hosting a friendship group independently after training and probationary period.
o Contributing to the planning and delivery of activities and outings based on the members choices and your own skills.
o Chatting with members
o Take part in the group/session indoor and outdoor activities.
o Help with catering and washing up!
One thing is for certain no two days will be the same!
Dementia Friendly East Lothian CIC (DFEL) exists to transform the lives of people living with dementia, their families and friends. We support people affected by dementia to come together for mutual support, fun and to make a difference. We also support communities to become more inclusive and dementia friendly and work with a range of organisations and groups to develop creative and innovative activities and services that help people live well as valued and respected members of their communities.

Approximately 3 /4 hours per week
Experience required: Meeting Centre hosts will bring lots of different skills and experience the only essentials are:
• You are warm and friendly.
• You are comfortable engaging with people who live with Dementia and unpaid carers.
• You bring a “can do attitude”!
• You enjoy a good chat.
• You are willing to share your skills and experience.
Travel details: All Friendship Groups and the Musselburgh meeting centre are accessible by public transport.

Expenses details: Volunteer expenses will normally be paid monthly but this should not be a barrier and other timescales can be considered
