An exciting opportunity to work with a respected charity operating throughout Scotland.

Seagull Trust Cruises provide free canal cruises for the elderly, infirm, and those with special needs. Founded back in 1978, and operating from 4 Scottish bases, we are wholly run by volunteers, and 100% funded by grants and donations. Seagull Trust Cruises operate the largest fleet of charity boats in Gt. Britain. We are currently looking for a Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to head up or join a new small fundraising team, who working with others in the team, can source grant opportunities, liaise with potential funders, prepare quality application forms, and process through to successful completions. Our Executive Board oversee a number of ambitious projects at Branch and Scotland wide level, continuously driving the charity forward while maintaining its excellent reputation for providing free canal cruises for our beneficiaries.

We are looking for an excellent written communicator to identify and apply for trust and corporate grants. You will be researching funding opportunities and writing grant applications for the charity, keeping records on appropriate grant giving bodies, (application closing dates and processes), and reporting back to donors the difference their grant has made. You will also keep in touch with the team at local and executive level about the progress of applications.

While this is an exciting opportunity to work with one of the most respected charities operating on the Scottish Canal network, no experience or knowledge of the canals or boating is necessary ~ our concern and focus is on our all important beneficiaries.

Frequency and commitment details

This is predominantly a home based position with hours to suit yourself, but contact with the Executive and Branch teams (or by Zoom / Teams) will be neccessary

There are no restrictions.
Experience required: You will probably have previous experience (and perhaps contacts) to bring to the team, but don't be put off if that is not the case. We are a friendly team all working together towards the same ends. Good communication skills and the ability to process written applications are important considerations in maintaining the reputation of the Seagull Trust Cruises charity,
Travel details: We operate out of 4 branches (Ratho, Falkirk, Kirkintilloch, and Inverness) You will need to make your own transport arrangements to and from these locations if required, although this will probably be on very seldom occasions.

The Stirling Interfaith Community Justice Group (SICJG) is a charitable organisation (charity no. SC042540), that works alongside the Scottish Prison Service to deliver support and assistance to families visiting those in custody. They are located in the Family Help Hub at HMP and YOI Cornton Vale and the Visitor Centre at HMP Glenochil. The aim of the Family Help Hub is to provide a supportive, friendly and welcoming environment for families visiting relatives or loved ones in prison. Support is provided by staff and trained volunteers to ensure experiences of prison visiting are less stressful and more positive, thereby encouraging more frequent visits and maintaining family ties in order to reduce re-offending, increase the stability of children's lives and achieve positive long-term outcomes for all of the family. What is the role of a volunteer? · The group have many volunteers from various backgrounds and different levels of experience with the criminal justice system. However, training is given to all volunteers so no experience is necessary. · You will be based at one of the centres and will be responsible for welcoming visitors before they head to their visits. You will usually provide teas and coffees. · If someone is visiting for the first time, you will sit down with them and talk them through the processes and signpost them to any help from other services. · Volunteers will be expected to help in building relationships with visitors and looking out for any signs that they may need additional help or support during the visit. Children’s visits: One of the main activities that SICJG coordinate is children’s visits. These are more relaxed and allow the children to interact with their parents freely. The group are even involved with organising parties throughout the year, such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas. Dads Rock is a third sector organisation based in Edinburgh that focuses parenting support on Fathers and the Father-Child relationship. Our aim is to improve outcomes for Children in Scotland. We have been running for over 11 years and offer a range of services for Dads and families. Participate in our nation-wide New Dad Peer Support programme! We are looking for experienced parents to provide 1:1 peer support to new Dads/Dads-to-be across Scotland. You will help reduce social isolation and anxieties among new Dads through weekly one-hour Zoom sessions wherein you lend an empathetic ear and some practical advice. As a volunteer, you will receive full training and support from Dads Rock throughout your befriending journey. You will also gain the practical experience of helping Dads and families across Scotland that are dealing with Perinatal Mental Health issues and be filled with a sense of satisfaction knowing you have made a positive difference to these Dads, their babies and partners.
