As the population of the 65+ community in Dundee increases so do the number of elderly people who are isolated and lonely. Help us to keep older people independent, safe and well in their own homes by being a volunteer driver, enabling older people to get to appointments, do their own shopping or enjoy meeting up with friends and family.
You will hold a full drivers licence and if you have access to a suitable and reliable car you must hold comprehensive insurance. You will be happy to collect our customers from their own home and drive them to their desired location. Where appropriate you may have to wait for a period of time before taking the passenger home.
Your responsibilities will include cash handling, light paperwork and you will be required to become a member of the PVG scheme. All costs associated with your role as a volunteer will be met by DCT.
DCT are keen to recruit drivers from anywhere in Dundee.
Dundee Community Transport runs a community car scheme where volunteer drivers use their own car to give lifts to people over 65 so that they can access social, recreational and medical appointments.
We are flexible with the amount of time drivers can provide and the duration of their service. We do ask that drivers complete at least 1 journey per week if possible.
Those applying must have no more than 3 points on their driving license and have full comprehensive car insurance if they plan to use their own vehicle.
