Description

We have been providing therapies and support for people living with MS and other conditions since 1984 from our Therapy Centre in Leith. We actively encourage and support volunteering opportunities – they are vital to our organisation and everything we do. We welcome people from all walks of life who can support us and provide a welcoming and friendly face. You will be trained and supported in the operation and delivery of our oxygen therapy service. This is a vital and beneficial therapy for many of our clients in the management of their long-term condition. We also offer volunteering opportunities with our physiotherapy service, administration and in fundraising activities.

Organisation aims and objectives

Compass Therapy Support Community is a small, independent Scottish charity based in Edinburgh ,dedicated to improving the lives of people with neurological conditions through physiotherapy, rehabilitation and oxygen therapy. Compass Therapy provides a unique blend of specialist therapies and support for individuals with neurological conditions, empowering clients to lead fuller and more independent lives. Our work combines hands - on rehabilitation, oxygen therapy and a supportive environment where clients and families feel genuinely cared for.

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experienced required, good people and team skills, able to follow instructions, reliable, and a good sense of humour. Flexible volunteering times available.
Travel details: Our Centre is based at 40c Swanfield, Bonnington Road, Edinburgh EH6 5RX Good public transport links and free parking. Travel expenses refunded.
Minimum age: 18

They are looking for Cooks who can prepare simple cooked lunches for groups between 5 and 15 people. Groups meet once or twice a week but there is no need to commit to both days. Groups run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch served at 12 noon; the cook can start at a suitable time to achieve this, finishing when clearing up has finished. Each venue has a good size and well-equipped kitchen. Lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

Social Group Assistant

How can you have fun, gain confidence and help others at the same time? By becoming a social group assistant with Express Group Fife! Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for almost 50 years. They provide social group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for a Social Group Assistants for their groups listed below. Activities involved: setting up the hall (tables and chairs, but not at every location), socialising with service users, serving tea/coffee, taking part/assisting in activities (e.g. board games, bingo, crafts). There is always a Group Coordinator facilitating the group and very often also a Case Worker who can work individually with service users when needed. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

  • ENeRGI (East Neuk Recovery Group Initiative)
ENeRGI SCIO is a mental health charity based in the East Neuk of Fife. Volunteers are needed to join its committee. You will be responsible for governing the charity, helping to shape policy and its vision for the future. ENeRGI is a SCIO registered charity established since 1995. Committee Members are asked to attend Committee Meetings, which take place once every two months, and usually last 1 hour to 90 minutes, and the ENeRGI Annual General Meetings, usually held in December. Committee roles available or you can remain as an ordinary trustee with just attendance and input expected. This is an opportunity to gain new skills and contribute to a great community project. Interested parties over the age of 16 are welcome to apply.
