Shop Floor Assistant - Duloch

Description

At CHAS we care for children throughout Scotland and we're here for the whole family. Whether at home, in
hospital, or visiting our hospices, we give families the care and support they need, when they need it.
CHAS runs a number of charity shops across Scotland, selling donated stock as well as new goods to raise the vital
funds required to care for children and their families. You will be volunteering within our retail team, assisting with
the day to day running of the shop floor and provide excellent customer service.
This opportunity is at our Duloch Shop in Dunfermline. You will work with a small team to welcome customers into
the shop, serve at the till and processing donations. If you enjoy keeping busy while having a laugh with a great
team, this opportunity is for you!

Organisation aims and objectives

CHAS Trading (Fife) has four small charity shops operating within Fife, that raise vital funds to allow CHAS to offer a full family support service for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. CHAS supports families across Scotland. Their shops in Fife are key to raising enough funds to support the service.

Restrictions

Experience required: It would be great if you have good communication and customer service skills. It is important that you work well in a team and you share the same values with the organisation: respect, care honesty and accountability.
Travel details: This will be based in our Duloch shop in Dunfermline. 5A, Duloch Park, Turnstone Rd, Dunfermline KY11 8JZ. The shop is easily accessible by public transport or free car parking on site. Travelling expenses are provided.
Minimum age: 14

Expenses details: Yes - CHAS reimburses reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred in the course of volunteering, including public transport on submission of receipts/tickets and car (current mileage rate = 45p), every month.

They are looking for Cooks who can prepare simple cooked lunches for groups between 5 and 15 people. Groups meet once or twice a week but there is no need to commit to both days. Groups run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch served at 12 noon; the cook can start at a suitable time to achieve this, finishing when clearing up has finished. Each venue has a good size and well-equipped kitchen. Lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

Social Group Assistant

How can you have fun, gain confidence and help others at the same time? By becoming a social group assistant with Express Group Fife! Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for almost 50 years. They provide social group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for a Social Group Assistants for their groups listed below. Activities involved: setting up the hall (tables and chairs, but not at every location), socialising with service users, serving tea/coffee, taking part/assisting in activities (e.g. board games, bingo, crafts). There is always a Group Coordinator facilitating the group and very often also a Case Worker who can work individually with service users when needed. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

  • ENeRGI (East Neuk Recovery Group Initiative)
ENeRGI SCIO is a mental health charity based in the East Neuk of Fife. Volunteers are needed to join its committee. You will be responsible for governing the charity, helping to shape policy and its vision for the future. ENeRGI is a SCIO registered charity established since 1995. Committee Members are asked to attend Committee Meetings, which take place once every two months, and usually last 1 hour to 90 minutes, and the ENeRGI Annual General Meetings, usually held in December. Committee roles available or you can remain as an ordinary trustee with just attendance and input expected. This is an opportunity to gain new skills and contribute to a great community project. Interested parties over the age of 16 are welcome to apply.
