Companion Volunteer

Description

Our popular Companion Role allows volunteers to see firsthand the meaningful and direct impact they are making on the lives of the people we support.

Each volunteer in our Companion Team dedicates 3 hours per week to offering one-on-one support and companionship to individuals with terminal illnesses and their families, making a tremendous difference in their community.

Offer a listening ear
Engage in uplifting conversations
Provide emotional support
Spend quality time with the person you’re supporting, whether in their home, care homes, or out in the community.
Help caregivers by giving them short breaks to rest and recharge.
Accompany clients to medical appointments, short outings, or walks, helping them stay active and connected.

Full training and ongoing support will ensure you feel confident in this role.
Flexible scheduling options available to accommodate your availability.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end of life charity. Everyone deserves the right support at the end of life. We’re here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and their family and friends. Whatever the illness, we’re with you to the end.

Frequency and commitment details

3 hours per week is desirable. We are dedicated to finding the right fit to suit your schedule.

Travel details: When matching you with someone we will take into account your ability to travel.

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Reasonable out of pocket expenses are reimbursed. This includes travel by the use of your own vehicle, or public transport. Expenses are paid monthly directly to the volunteer.

*Volunteers are key to the success of SensationALL! *Do you have an hour or more to spare and want to make a difference in a fun and friendly environment? SensationALL run sensory based therapy groups and services for children and adults with multiple support needs. We need volunteers to assist our team in delivering engaging and rewarding sessions for all our service users. You would be involved in activities such as crafts, baking, games and music as well as helping with the set-up, making refreshments and tidying up. Our children’s groups include access to our soft play area so they can experience free play in safe and comfortable surroundings as well as structured messy play, sensory story-time or craft activities. Individuals interested in gaining experience working with people who have sensory and learning disabilities and autism will particularly benefit from volunteering with us however no previous experience is required. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. We also require volunteers to help with: *Fundraising *Events *IT/admin tasks *Maintenance/equipment cleaning *Trustee Board Members Good support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. Every volunteer is given an induction prior to starting. Once actively volunteering with us we will extend the opportunity to attend any in-house training such as first aid, introduction to Autism, Makaton amongst others. Childline Volunteers

-Could you be there for children? At Childline, our free counselling service for children, a child contacts us every 25 seconds. And thanks to our dedicated volunteers, who do a shift each week, we can offer support when it’s needed most. To make sure it stays that way, we’re looking for more brilliant people who want to make a difference. After you get trained and set up in your local base, you’ll be helping children and young people who need someone to talk to.
