Fun, Food and Friendship is a new group opening in November 2022 in 2 places – Monday-Friday in Arbroath at the Community Spirit building at Fisheracre and on a Saturday in the Community Hub in Friockheim. In Arbroath a two-course hot meal will be provided, whilst in Friockheim, it will be a soup and sandwich lunch and there will be a variety of activities dependent on the requests of those attending. The groups are open to anyone regardless of age, gender or circumstances and are free of charge. We hope to provide a welcoming and warm space in which people can relax, build confidence and friendships and support one another and to build community.
We are looking for someone to provide administrative support to the groups. The role would include:
Volunteering
• Creating and maintain a volunteer database
• Preparing and informing volunteers of the rota
• Providing a point of contact for volunteers to call if they are unable to be present and sourcing cover for them.
Food Provision
• Collating the menus on a week-by-week basis
• Ensuring all items for food provision are sourced (from volunteer updates) and collected/delivered
• Liaising with finance to ensure payment is made
This role could be done by one person or split into two separate roles.

In addition, we aim to ensure that support is available for anyone affected by negative interactions online and to help anyone who finds themselves in cyber-related difficulties.
Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do and it is important for us to ensure we provide the best working environment possible. Volunteers work remotely during hours they set, our team focuses on ensuring clear deliverables are identified and agreed to allow volunteers to manage their own time.
Meetings with the whole team will be held regularly to make sure everyone knows each other and work together.
Role includes but is not limited too:
Provide advice and guidance on equality and diversity issues;
Actively promote equality and diversity within Citizens of Cyber and the wider community;
Raise awareness of diversity issues both within schools/at events and within Citizens of Cyber;
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of anti-discriminatory legislation;
Develop systems for reporting any incidents of discrimination and where required, respond to
complaints and provide further information on options for complainants;
Present reports and recommendations for how best to comply with equality legislation;
Responsible for ensuring the practices of Citizens of Cyber follow legal requirements by translating equality legislation in to practice;
Assist web teams in ensuring website is fully accessible; and Report back to the CEO and Board on a regular basis.

Identify potential sources of funding and prepare funding applications;
Identify new audiences which would benefit from the resources offered by Citizens of Cyber;
Assist in the production of materials to aid in reaching out to new audiences for Citizens of Cyber;
Validate information/materials produced by Citizens of Cyber for accuracy and reliability through the use of multiple trustworthy sources;
Research and advise Citizens of Cyber volunteers on trustworthy sources of information;
Advise Citizens of Cyber volunteers on how to identify trustworthy information and how to best validate information used in their roles;
You will be speaking/teaching/ working with young children and vulnerable adults as a volunteer of Citizens of Cyber.

To research and develop content and interpretation materials for walking routes near the Union Chain Bridge. These walking guides will be published on the project website and to inform volunteer-led walks around the area.
The main focus of the role will involve:
• Researching and developing content and interpretation materials for the proposed walking routes in the vicinity of the Union Chain Bridge;
• Researching examples of good practice and popular local walking trails;
• Co-creating online walking resources with professional interpretation experts to create a public walking guide resource.
• Although not an essential requirement of the role, volunteers may be interested in walking the suggested routes, testing and recording detail about them.
Skills and Experience required:
An interest in history, natural history and local culture
Ability to work on your own and in a team

Join our friendly SCAA team as Can Collectors, by raising awareness and funds we can keep saving time and saving lives across all of Scotland.
Speak with local shops and businesses about the life-saving work SCAA provides and placing a new can if they are happy.
Keep SCAA updated on locations of cans.
Monitor your area of cans if they need collected. Some are busier than others.
Uplift full cans and providing clean, empty cans.
Count and bank locally (some banks have change counters, but not all).
Contact the office with details of the funds, they will send a thank you and update you on how much was raised.
Volunteers welcomed to support Live Borders curators, archivists and educators. Tasks vary from contributing information, research and digitising resources for Borders Collections Online database, to helping at events/exhibitions or supporting on-site conservation, cataloguing and storage projects.
Role Description :
Volunteers can get involved in a range of ways to help our team deliver priority programmes in museums/archives work. We have opportunities available working either remotely (online) and in our Museums/Galleries plus Heritage Hub archive, located across the Scottish Borders area.
Skills/Experience Required:
We are looking for volunteers with a diverse range of skills and subject interests. Our collections and database projects cover everything under the sun from textiles, photography and local history, to natural sciences, art and motorsport. Current projects involve assisting with cataloguing, inventories, storage/labelling and digitising of 150,000 historic objects, artworks and images. In addition, volunteers can also support our team in the care and conservation of collections on-site and help with associated research topics. We also have opportunities for volunteers to assist at events or invigilate at exhibitions. Volunteering can be either digital/online work for collections database and research work, or site-based at museum/archive area offices located in Hawick, Peebles, Duns or Selkirk.
Hours to be arranged by agreement, minimum commitment of 3 months required.
