Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Volunteers will be working on the reception desk at SMFA, a community facility with a public café.
As a volunteer you will greet visitors/customers as they come into the premises; take bookings; check emails, voice mails and answer the telephone; check the facility for cleanliness and deal with any other issues as they arise (including Health and Safety). SMFA is a vibrant/lively place to work, with a variety of groups using the premises. There is a chance to meet and chat to lots of interesting people and no two days are the same
* Support the record keeping systems of the Bike Hub
* Collect payment for bike hub services
* Welcome new and repeat participants to Bike Hub events and activities
* Help to ensure participants have/continue to have a good experience
* Feed back any issues and concerns to the Cultural Convenor

We have 250 local groups which play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS across the UK. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.
We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Lanarkshire group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community. You can see a video about one of our Group Coordinators here.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need around 5 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the Lanarkshire area to carry out this role.

Angus Carers Centres vision is that all carers in Angus will receive appropriate information and support to enable them to feel valued and confident in their caring situation and to develop their own potential. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for all carers in Angus.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help us cover our reception desk within the centre at 8 Grant Road, Arbroath,DD11 1JN. This role involves answering and directing telephone calls, meeting and greeting visitors to the centre and some general administrative tasks such as booking rooms.
This role would suit anyone wishing to develop their communication skills and build confidence in a people facing role. Some experience is beneficial, but training and guidance will be provided by our admin staff here in the centre.
At the moment we would welcome enquiries from individuals who can possibly volunteer with us one hour per week on a Thursday from 4-5pm and also from individuals who would be able to help out at holiday times.
An initial informal chat will be arranged along with a visit to learn more about our organisation. This role requires a PVG ( There is no cost to the Volunteer for a PVG check) Travel expenses are paid for this role.
Volunteers must be available to work one full day from our office in Edinburgh per week for about three to four months. They should have good IT and communication skills. Must be aiming to secure employment in the UK or further education for themselves.
