Team Jak provides practical and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses, their family and friends and those bereaved.
Team Jak Ambassadors can have different roles including family support and fundraising, including - raising awareness and fundraising opportunities such as bag packs, helping at a merchandise stand and collection buckets in supermarkets, schools, colleges, shopping centres and concerts.
We will be hosting a number of larger fundraising events in Aberdeen throughout the year with the aim to raise £70,000 to open our Jak’s Den in Aberdeen.
Family support roles can be rewarding and involve anything from playing with the children during our activity days and at our child and teenage groups, to making tea and coffee at our support sessions, talking with parents, sorting out merchandise bags and delivering to our newly diagnosed warriors in hospital, and preparing items for events.
Volunteers receive initial induction training, ongoing support and any further relevant training opportunities. Team Jak have an Awards scheme and we hold a yearly event dedicated to thanking our volunteers and celebrating their success. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.

Miscarriage Information Support Service (MISS) SCIO
MISS (Miscarriage Information Support Service) is a registered charity. We are a miscarriage support service covering all of Scotland for anyone who has experienced baby loss.
MISS offers a confidential space for anyone in Scotland to receive support, information and advice as well as understand they are not alone after going through miscarriage.

ARCHIE Child Bereavement Service (part of the ARCHIE Foundation charity) provide direct support to bereaved children and young people throughout Grampian.
Due to an increased demand in our service we are seeking volunteers in a variety of areas including: responders to visit bereaved families, fundraisers, event and admin helpers and a treasurer.
Key objectives of our Volunteers are: To support the work of GCBN through contributing to the range of services provided. To make a positive difference to the lives of the children, young people and their families who have been affected by bereavement
Our responder service entails people visiting bereaved families and undertaking direct support work with children and young people and their families. We also run event days for children staffed up by our volunteers. We are particularly keen to recruit a volunteer with a financial or accounts background to take on our treasurer role.
Excellent support and training is provided to all volunteers e.g.: induction includes self awareness, policy and procedures of charity. Training in child protection and bereavement support. Support from coordinator and board of trustees.

Macmillan Cancer Support Lanarkshire (Libraries, Communities & Leisure)
Are you a handy person or just willing to use your enthusiasm and learn while volunteering? This is a brilliant opportunity to be part of a friendly team to help with the upkeep/maintenance of the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life. Just give the time you can. Maybe a few hours or a day or two. Required over the summer months and perhaps beyond. Through volunteering, your time will help ensure that our facilities are conserved for future visitors to enjoy.
Many local people and tourists visit the Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life time and time again not realising all the busy hands who help keep the fantastic museum and its grounds in top condition.
We are looking for people willing to put their skills to good use or just to be happy to help out in any way you can. There are outdoor painting projects to help maintain areas around the venue & also conservation projects along with many others. ‘Robin’, a railway engine, is currently undergoing conservation work and is being transformed back to how it was in 1957 when it worked at R.B Tennants, at Whifflet Foundry. There are many ad-hoc activities to suit what suits you.

These volunteers support hospital staff to minimise the numbers of people accessing the acute hospitals sites. They carry out a range of duties to support this including sanitising, face coverings and pharmacy pick up Provide directions to patients and visitors in the acute hospitals
Escort patients and visitors to departments, where appropriate
Show patients and visitors where they will be able to find wheelchairs (however we would not expect you to push patients or visitors in those wheelchairs)
Encourage physical distancing for those who are visiting the hospital environment, directing them to use the hand sanitizer and give out surgical masks as appropriate.
Collect discharge prescriptions for patients
Collect changes of clothes from relatives at front door to be delivered to wards for inpatients meaning that the relatives don’t need to go into the wards.
There is opportunity to become involved in such a wide variety of projects/ groups dependant on your availability of time. We would love support to reach our community more. Perhaps you have skills / interest in social media use or website development. Support once a month with minute taking would aid our volunteer group also. All options provide an insight into the wider activity within the community and support development of skills and experience.
We meet usually every last Monday of the month (except July and December). Some examples of our involvement are monthly meetings involving locally elected councillors, Police and guest speakers. We regularly review local planning applications, police reports, local news and address any concerns raised. We organise community events such as beach cleans, seasonal town decorations/ events such as the summer bunting and Christmas Lights display/ switch on. We also support to facilitate local projects such as most recently the creation of our Carnoustie Butterfly and supporting creation of the town heritage trail as well as collaborating with organisations to distribute community funds, such as the recent Seagreen Community Funding.
We are looking for committed and empathetic volunteers to support people who are living with, or affected by chronic pain who access our phone, online forum and e-help support services.
This is a great opportunity to enhance your communication skills and develop an understanding of pain self-management, while providing a valued service to people living with long-term pain. By joining us you will join a fast-growing and respected service.
Due to the nature of the role, successful applicants will be required to undertake a PVG check.
What you would be doing:
· Offer emotional support and signpost resources and information to people affected by persistent pain either by phone, email or on the online forum
· You will work as part of a team of volunteers, covering a rota, ability to commit to shifts is essential
· Attend training/supervision sessions remotely
· Keep up to date with Pain Concern news and work across the UK
· Complete ‘after contact’ survey to support Pain Concern’s evaluation targets.
We would like volunteers to commit to for at least 12 months (including the training period), with the acknowledgement that your circumstances may change.
We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers who can regularly give us four hours of their time per fortnight.
We are currently open 2 days a week from 11am to 3pm and are hoping to increase our opening hours in the near future.
Duties of the role include:
• Welcoming visitors and answering questions

• Recording visitor information
• Receiving items donated by members of the public
