As a Voluntary Workshop Assistant you will become part of a team within our farm and gardens, set in beautiful surroundings 5miles outside of Aberdeen city centre and close to the Deeside Railway line.
The opportunity does not require you to have previous experience, we just ask that you are caring, patient and willing to help our pupils, have an interest in people and different ways of communications.
Our pupils age from 12-25 years old and as part of your position, you will be with them when they attend the various workshops (woodwork, metal, weavery, felt, candle, pottery, bike and Fruver- our food workshop)as part of their personalised daily routines and assist them with their tasks.
Training provided in induction and support given throughout the volunteering time within Camphill School Aberdeen.

Volunteers we need you, with you inspiration and motivation to serve as a board member on the Management Board of HALLA (Harlaw Area Lifelong Learning Association).
We are a Board of people who run daytime and evening classes at Kaimhill Learning Centre.
We have a FB page ( @HALLACommunity) where you can see some of our activities and tutored classes.
We meet once a month to discuss new opportunities and management issues, to find new ways of how-to bring people of all ages in the local community into the centre.
We have several weekly, social, informal learning groups where Board members can get to know each other and form a friendly working relationship.
A volunteer should be passionate, enthusiastic and have a keen interest in community matters.
A volunteer does not necessarily require specific skills since we all support each other to develop new skills but if you have specific ones, it would be good to introduce them to the rest of the Board so we can use them to benefit the local community.
The Board would appreciate people with knowledge of IT and office procedures but enthusiasm and interest in the community are equally important.

Inchgarth Community Centre provide a fantastic programme of activities for the community with the tremendous help of volunteers. Inchgarth has over 170 sessions of activity per week-serving every age group and section of the community. As a big and vibrant community centre, we offer a large range of activities for all ages and welcome a range of charities at the community centre.
We have a great opportunity for people to help as Thursday Phoenix Club Befrienders (1-3pm). The Phoenix Club is a wonderful social club for adults with learning or physical disabilities, where people have fun and socialise together. Every Thursday from 1pm-3pm, the club meets at Inchgarth Community Centre to play pool, video games or board games, to sing karaoke or paint.
We are seeking new volunteers for the club and for befrienders. Your role would be to take part in activities, play pool and board games with our members, take people to the cafe and have a hot drink. No experience necessary we just need you to be friendly and enthusiastic. We want our Phoenix Club members to feel special during this fantastic club and you could be that difference in people’s lives.
It is also a good opportunity to improve your communication skills, to gain experience working with people with learning and physical disabilities and to help the community grow. The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, developing the charity’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with the governing document, legal and regulatory guidelines.
While all Trustees always retain their responsibility for the Charity as a whole, some will be chosen for their specific expertise in particular areas and will support and advise the Board on that area of expertise.
-Main Responsibilities:
• Work together to provide leadership and strategic direction to the charity
• Ensure that M4U meets its charitable objectives as laid out in the constitution
• Ensure that M4U is effectively run and meets all of its legal and regulatory requirements
• Ensure that assets are safeguarded and used efficiently for those for whom the charity exists
• Ensure that the charity is accountable financially and in other ways
• Take on specific roles as required for the smooth operation of the Board of Trustees and charity
• To maintain absolute confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information received in the
course of trustee’s responsibilities to the charity.
• Act in the best interest of the charity, beneficiaries and future beneficiaries at all times
• Promote and develop the charity in order for it to grow and maintain its relevance to society
-Commitment:
Trustees are expected to contribute around 10 hours per month to the charity and to attend 6 Board Meetings per annum. A minimum commitment of 12 months is requested.
Trustees are expected to attend a minimum of 2 Workshops, 2 Performances and 2 Fundraising Events
per annum.
-Remuneration:
This is a voluntary position, although reasonable travelling expenses can be refunded.
-Accountable to:
As the board are responsible and liable for the governance and functioning of the charity, they are accountable in varying degrees to a variety of stakeholders, including: service users, funders and OSCR.
M4U depends on Trustees having a wide range of skills, and each Board member should have strengths in at least one of the following areas. We do not expect Trustees to be skilled in all of these areas.

Pushing Out the Boat magazine (North-east Scotland’s Biennial Magazine of New Writing and the Visual Arts) is looking for a new treasurer to join our team of unpaid volunteers.
We are a small registered charity (SCIO No SC044919). We get our main income from selling our magazine and holding events. Our main costs are printing the magazine and administration.
Your duties would include:
1. Management of our receipts and payments through our bank and PayPal accounts and in cash
2. Using Excel spreadsheets to keep our financial records and prepare our annual accounts.
The Treasurer is also a member of our management committee. Whilst the basic skills required to perform the duties described above are essential, we will provide help and support on other aspects of the role. A general interest in the arts would be an asset but is not essential.

Team Jak provides practical and emotional support to children and young people with cancer and related illnesses, their family and friends and those bereaved.
Team Jak Ambassadors can have different roles including family support and fundraising, including - raising awareness and fundraising opportunities such as bag packs, helping at a merchandise stand and collection buckets in supermarkets, schools, colleges, shopping centres and concerts.
We will be hosting a number of larger fundraising events in Aberdeen throughout the year with the aim to raise £70,000 to open our Jak’s Den in Aberdeen.
Family support roles can be rewarding and involve anything from playing with the children during our activity days and at our child and teenage groups, to making tea and coffee at our support sessions, talking with parents, sorting out merchandise bags and delivering to our newly diagnosed warriors in hospital, and preparing items for events.
Volunteers receive initial induction training, ongoing support and any further relevant training opportunities. Team Jak have an Awards scheme and we hold a yearly event dedicated to thanking our volunteers and celebrating their success. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.
