We have launched Scotland's first outdoor charity shop where we sell good-quality, used, outdoor equipment at reasonable prices. We want to help get as many people into the outdoors as we can, while at the same time reducing the environmental impact of getting kitted up for the outdoors.
We are looking for a volunteer to help sort, photograph, value, & list items on our eBay shop.
We are a small team working in a small office space, & with donations becoming more generous & more frequent, we now require assistance to keep on top of donations.
The main tasks are;
•Sort through donations separating into what Àban can use, what can be sold, & what can be donated to Highland Support Refugees
•Photograph donations ready for sale
•Assist with research/pricing of items
•Assist with listing on eBay
What you will need;
Comprehensive knowledge of outdoor kit. Our donations can be made up of anything from camping equipment, skis, wetsuits, winter clothing, walking boots/shoes, & general outdoor clothing from lower end to high end.
A general interest in the outdoors, and treating all donations in the same way, be it low-end or high-end.

As part of a committed team you would have an active role in raising the profile of barnardos as well as providing excellent customer services. This has many elements that would enhance any existing skills as well as providing an opportunity to learn new ones

The Arkbound Foundation is a literature charity and social enterprise based in Glasgow. The Arkbound Foundation is a charity that aims to widen access to literature and improve diversity within publishing.
We run projects that empower people from disadvantaged backgrounds and deprived communities to get their voices heard, supporting books with important social and environmental themes
We are seeking an Arkhub Assistant volunteer (to the Hub Manager) to help run our newly opened space in Govanhill, 'Ark Hub'. The Assistant Role will be based in a customer-facing environment and will develop existing communication and organisational skills as part of the development of the volunteer.
The hub endeavours to be a part book shop, part events space, with opportunities for visitors to also get light refreshments and to attend workshops. Someone with a creative eye, to enliven a space and draw people in, would be a great asset to this venue.
Combining elements of community outreach and service delivery, our vision is for The Venue to be a centrepiece of the local community and to grow the service to our beneficiaries through the selling of books, light refreshments, other items, and more.
This is an ideal volunteering opportunity for someone with previous experience or who is seeking to develop experience in retail. The volunteer may also have an 'entrepreneurial spark' to develop a small community venue in Govanhill to grow to become an innovative retail space for the local community.
If you have prior experience of helping with a space and can demonstrate fundraising skliis to assist the charity to grow that would be great! This is an ideal opportunity to use initiative and to apply creative solutions, be capable of working independently as well as part of a team, together with be able to multitask whilst meeting deadlines.
Having a good local knowledge of the Govanhill Community and having a commitment to environmental and social causes would benefit this role.
Key role tasks include:
- Generally assisting with the functioning of the space
- Ensuring a positive experience for visitors
- assisting in delivering a programme of events
- volunteering alongside other volunteers
- Helping to promote awareness of the space to the local community and across Glasgow
Minimum 4 hours per week.

We are looking for a Sales Assistant to be an ambassador for Debra whilst volunteering in our store, we require a volunteer who is interested in learning retail and is happy to learn in both the front and rear of house, roles include: Sorting Donations of clothing, working the steam equipment, sorting jewellery, Bric a Brac, moving furniture (if able) and electrical equipment. We like our volunteers to assist in all aspects of the shop including window dressing.
What will the volunteering role look like?
Assisting customers in the shop in a friendly and professional manner, whether that be answering enquiries or just having a chat.
Sorting donated goods. This a large part of every retail role.
Pricing donated goods
Replenishing and changing the stock on display.
Operating the till.
Talking to customers.
Making our displays and window look their best!

Retail volunteers are the backbone of our shops. A day can include sorting donations, operating the till or pricing stock – every day, and every shop, is different! Each volunteer brings their own skills, experience and character to a role.
