We have a fantastic team of staff and volunteers at Cancer Research UK Union Street store (125 Union Street Aberdeen, AB11 6HB). We have great opportunities for more people to join our volunteer team to help us with customer service. Our shop has been open just over a year and is lovely and clean, colour coordinated and has bags of style. Home-Start Aberdeen supports local families, who may be vulnerable or suffering from isolation, with emotional and practical support in their own homes. Our charity shop, which raises valuable funds towards our work, opened in 2012. It is located in the heart of the city at 101 George Street, (opposite the old John Lewis store). The shop is always keen to recruit volunteers who might wish to assist with a number of activities, including sorting and pricing stock, arranging window displays, liaising with customers and lending a hand at special promotional events. No prior retail experience is required; our friendly shop staff team provide all volunteers with advice and guidance. Volunteering at the Home-Start Aberdeen shop is therefore an opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and gain confidence. It is also a meaningful way to support Home-Start Aberdeen’s work with local families. We rely on donations of good quality, second hand furniture, textiles and bric a brac. in order for this to be sold at a reduced cost, the items need to be checked, cleaned and on some occasions built. By doing this, Instant Neighbour is able to provide a unique service of practical help, advice and emotional support to some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in Aberdeen.
