Our Save the Children Charity Shop in Haddington has been a much loved part of the local community for years and continues to be hugely popular with customers and supporters, thanks to the kindness and generosity of the wonderful Volunteer Team.
If you would like to volunteer with us all you will need is some enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference. Volunteer tasks include:
*customer service
*sorting donations
*steaming clothes
*visual merchandising
You can choose how much time you dedicate, and we’ll give you training and support along the way. No special skills are needed, and we welcome people from all nationalities and backgrounds.
Penicuik Storehouse is a community owned shop and cafe, stocking local and ethically sourced products. We provide a space for local crafters to sell their items, and a community space for local groups.
All our fruit & vegetables are organic and are supplied locally. We are looking for a volunteer who has 3 hours a week to spare. Volunteering provides a great opportunity to enhance your CV, meet new people and learn new skills
Main Duties:
- Packing veg boxes following guidance - eventually working out box contents by yourself - Unloading and checking veg deliveries - Pricing veg with guidance to start with, writing price tickets - Arranging fruit and veg for display
Person Specification:
- Genuine interest in fruit and veg, especially organic - Attention to detail - Comfortable with numbers (arithmetic) - Happy to get hands dirty!

We are looking for friendly people who have 3 hours a week to spare and would like to help out in our cafe and shop. We welcome all volunteers, and we are flexible around accommodating our volunteers needs’ and preferences. We are proud to be an inclusive organisation.
Main shop tasks include:
· Serving customers at the till
· Taking café orders
· Keeping the shop and cafe clean and tidy
· Restocking shelves, fridges and fresh product
Main café tasks include:
· Making hot drinks using the coffee machine
· Assisting with preparation of food and drinks
· Serving food and drink to customers
· Clearing and cleaning down tables and washing dishes and kitchen equipment.
Learning new skills. Helping a charity whilst having fun at the same time. Development of talents that we value such as communication skills, numeracy, teamwork and taking responsibility.
We are looking for volunteers to help with stocking shelves and stock rotation, helping with the deliveries, collecting donations from supermarkets, helping those accessing the larder, collecting basic information for monitoring purposes and cash handling.
We require two afternoon volunteers for our charity shop Deaf links. We are a welcoming team and require extra help now in our new larger premises. This is a rewarding experience to be part of a wider community project. Training will be provided along with any additional support needs being met, we can be flexible to meet your needs.
All relevant training will be given, you will work as part of a team and share an interest in retail and fashion. High standard of customer service when dealing with customers, providing a friendly atmosphere, with a respectful attitude. .Good time keeping
Key tasks: We have a number of different roles available from shop floor volunteers (Welcoming and informing customers at the Shrub, working on the till, keeping the shop floor tidy, chatting to customers about carbon literacy and sustainable fashion ) to pricing and sorting (helping in the stockroom, sorting and pricing donations, working out which things to keep and which things to pass on) as well as helping with merchandising and displays. We would also love to have some volunteers with particular interests (e.g. graphic design, photography, organisation skills).Please note: the volunteering opportunity is not suitable for anyone under 16years of age or who has not yet reached school-leaving age.
