We are one of Dundee’s premier visitor attractions (3 Star Visit Scotland award) with visitor numbers increasing year on year. We have a Trip Advisor rating of 2nd out of 120 things to do in Dundee that we are proud of and want to maintain.
The Museum is looking for motivated individuals to join our visitor services team for the coming season. The role offers the individual a chance to gain retail experience in visitor friendly environment. As part of the visitor services team you will assist with meeting and greeting our visitors, working on reception, helping out in the café or acting as a guide to ensure a first class experience. No experience is necessary and training will be given.
Every one of our stores relies on a team of volunteers to help run it and support our staff. Quite simply, we cannot provide our services or raise funds without the amazing support of our volunteers. The time, support and the work they do is vital to us and the people we help. By helping out in one of our stores, you can make a difference to people and their families in Scotland who are isolated, scared or anxious about their condition.
Learning new skills. Helping a charity whilst having fun at the same time. Development of talents that we value such as communication skills, numeracy, teamwork and taking responsibility.
Whatever your area of interest Oxfam will have a role to enjoy, whether it be face to face customer service or behind the scenes. You will be an important member of our friendly team.
At Oxfam we're dedicated to fighting poverty and inequality. Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. We respond fast in emergencies, work on long-term projects with communities and campaign for genuine, lasting change. Our volunteers, staff, and those we aim to influence are all guided by our values of empowerment, accountability, and inclusiveness.
Volunteering can help build your confidence, develop skills, and meet new people all whilst helping to end poverty.
We can be very flexible around parenting / caring / health / employment / education and any other commitments you may have.
You can help behind the scenes or on the shop floor and you can branch out into different areas and do extra training. For example, team leader, online retail, social media, admin & accountancy roles, community outreach, and events organising.

Volunteering in our community run shop selling organic, local and sustainable produce will help you meet other kind and wonderful members of our community and will help us build a hub for everyone in the community. As a social enterprise we set ourselves a mission to bring people together and make our community more resilient. In our shop we stock fresh produce, groceries, household products and toiletries that are local, environmentally friendly, organic, or fair trade to help people live a healthier and more sustainable life.
We currently have around 40 shops/community hubs across Scotland. Our shops and hubs help us raise funds so we can provide our services to the people who need us. Every one of our stores relies on a team of volunteers to help run it and support our staff.
This is an opportunity to undertake a satisfying and rewarding role. As part of our team of volunteers, you will provide customer support, whilst working in a friendly atmosphere, providing an extremely useful and appreciated service to the Charity. The role includes: welcoming and assisting customers, customer service and sales service, stock control, sorting donations, hanging and ticketing stock and helping to keep the shop clean and tidy.
The Forres pantry is open on Saturdays from 10am-noon in the Lesser Hall, and contains quality fresh and frozen surplus food via the FareShare scheme, which would otherwise go to waste. There is a small charge for people to access it, but the value of their shopping will be much higher than what they actually pay. Volunteers are required to help out. If you are interested please call FACT on 01309 674 388 or email info@forresarea.org if you can help.
From Monday – Friday our friendly and dedicated team of staff, volunteers and trainees steam, organise and label tonnes of items donated by the local community, including second-hand clothing and a range of one-off collectables.
Volunteers not only help in the shop but importantly also help our trainees learn and make the most of their experience in this friendly, supportive retail environment. Volunteering is flexible, please consider joining the team!
Love Wool? Maybe you have a good knowledge of knitting? Fancy helping in our Yarns and Crafts project? Then, Moray Reach Out would love to hear from you. Yarns & Crafts is a fantastic yarn and haberdashery shop. We stock a wide range of quality yarn and our very own hand-spun wool, excellent range of buttons, ribbon and basic items for quilters and patchwork plus many other haberdashery items.
Our trainees have an opportunity to work and learn in the shop within a safe and supportive environment. They are able to learn skills associated with retail, from a training programme aimed at their individual needs, and some specific skills such as health and safety, money skills and window dressing.
We are looking for volunteers who are keen to help others and who are happy to share their knowledge to help our trainees and customers. The shop is open from Monday to Friday 9.30-4, and times are flexible to suit you. Volunteers will receive training on how the shop works, and tasks such as working the till.
