Our volunteer drivers provide service users with lifts to hospital or GP appointments so that they can access vital medical care and treatment. They also help service users get to supermarkets and some other welfare appointments, as well as collecting and delivering prescriptions. Drivers quickly get to know service users and build up a rapport with them, making it a really sociable and rewarding role. Volunteers can use their own car or we can arrange a hire car.
This is a great new opportunity which will benefit people that are waiting to be discharged from hospital. Often, they are delayed in getting home due to not having anyone there to accept delivery of the specialised equipment they will require. FVA are looking to recruit a bank of volunteers who will collect patients’ keys from the ward, gain access to the patient’s property and await a delivery and installation of equipment by the NHS. (the volunteer is not involved in the installation) Once is it delivered and built, they will then leave, lock up and return the patients key to the ward in which it was collected. Deliveries can occur from 8 am to 3 pm
You must have the capacity to travel in your own car and be available with one to two days notice. References and background checks will be requested.

There are many activities you can get involved in to help make a difference in your local community. in Bearsden & Milngavie PPE will be supplied if required
