We are seeking someone passionate about amplifying migrant women's voices in the media to join the Migrant Women Press team as a Social Media and Community Engagement Officer.
The Social Media and Engagement Officer will be key to the ongoing success and development of Migrant Women Press online presence and engagement with our social media community, organisations and stakeholders.
As a team member, you will work closely with the Founder Editor and other team members to promote our recently established organisation, driving forward Migrant Women Press mission, strategic development and play a crucial role in defining the growth of our social enterprise.
About us
Migrant Women Press is a migrant women-led, independent media platform focused on women’s experiences with migration.
We discuss migration through migrant women’s lenses and are interested in investigating how the intersections of race, gender, class, nationality and disability impact women’s experiences in a new country.
Since we were created in 2020, we have published content by women from different ethnic backgrounds: Black, Asian, Arabic, White, Roma, mixed-race, age groups and nationalities. Our website has contributions from women from the UK, Romania, Turkey, Pakistan, Ukraine, Italy, Slovakia, Brazil, the US, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, St Tome and Prince, Germany, Rwanda, and Senegal.
Our vision is a world where we see more diverse voices in the media and that migrant women stories are appreciated. We want to redefine narratives around migration.
Skills and experience
At this stage of Migrant Women Press journey, we are seeking a Social Media and Community Engagement Officer with experience in creating engagement content for social media platforms, increase social engagement and promote Migrant Women Press online.
You will:
· Develop in collaboration with other team members Migrant Women Press social media guidelines.
· Develop Migrant Women Press social media strategy and planning the social media calendar.
· Maintaining and implementing content plan for social media channels (primarily Instagram, Twitter and Facebook) including drafting copy, creating content and ensure consistent posting for all channels.
· Bring creative ideas to promote Migrant Women Press online, such as in events to build community and boost brand awareness.
· Attend editorial meetings and advisory board meetings.
· Provide support on especial projects and events.
You must also be:
● Passionate about Migrant Women Press work and create opportunities for migrant women in the media.
● Take a genuine interest in our work by sharing your ideas and guiding our future goals with your skills &/or your lived experience
● Contribute to planning and actively participate in meetings and email communication
● Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and journalism standards

Are you passionate about digital communications and creating outreach content for an online community? If so, we are looking for someone to join our team and work alongside us to develop digital communications strategies and content to empower our community and promote our existing and future projects.
We are an arts-based media project supporting women and people from marginal communities to showcase their work and connect with arts focused opportunities across Scotland. Our placement opportunity will provide you with an opportunity to develop digital content to support connecting with our existing community and create growth opportunities to reach out to new members.
The role includes:
• Creating digital communication strategies to connect with people inclusive and supportive of their community and individual needs.
• Creation of community focused digital content for social media platforms.
• Supporting the development and implementation of community connection and growth strategy.
• Analysis of engagement data and supporting the creation of solutions to increase community connections.
• Working alongside the Zya Community team to support sharing of existing projects via digital communication.
The commitment is negotiable depending on availability however there is a minimum of 4 hours a week required. We can support with connecting the role with academic outcomes and have flexibility around role duties.

We are running our usual 1st Saturday Beach Clean at Monifieth. Litter picker, bin bag holders and bags are available. All are welcome but children aged 16 and under need to be accompaied by a responsible adult.
You will be providing a puppy with a vital foundation for its future role as a guide dog. This is a full-time volunteering opportunity as a puppy will live with you in your home for around 12-16 months. It should be noted that although it is possible for another Puppy Raiser to look after a dog on your behalf for short periods of time that this may not always be possible. Consideration should be given to your future plans such as holidays abroad.

We rely on volunteers like you to help us improve the lives of people with sight loss. In this role your support will include:-
• Developing, caring and providing for the needs of one of our puppies using Positive Reinforcement Techniques and following Guide Dogs Puppy Raising for Excellent Partnerships (PREP) programme
• Familiarising a puppy to a wide range of environments including shops and outdoor off lead exercise areas in all climates and seasons.
• Teaching a puppy it’s ok to be left alone by gradually building up from a few minutes to a maximum of 4 hours
• Attending regular puppy classes
• Regularly meeting with Guide Dogs representatives to discuss your pup’s development
• Completing regular on-line questionnaires to help us monitor puppy progress
Ideally you will:
• Be able to handle large breed dogs (around 25-40kg)
• Have access to a car on a weekly basis for training and vet visits
• Have your own home or written permission to have a dog in the home
• Have access to a secure area where the puppy could go to the toilet during the day, especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night
• Be able to access online content and training materials (you will need your own email address)
