At the Dundee Child and Family Support Service we are looking for volunteers to help with our school holiday activity days to provide one to one support (and general group support) in a group setting with other volunteers and staff members. The aim of the group is to support children and young people with additional support needs to engage with activities and to encourage interacting with peers and have fun in a supportive setting. The volunteers’ role is to participate in arranged activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, and games at a local base (i.e. primary school/community centre) or out and about in the local community.
Other group work roles that we have available with the Dundee Service include Active Schools (through Dundee Leisure and Culture) which is a group to encourage children and young people with additional support needs in a school setting with physical education. The activities in the group are tailored to meet their individual needs while enabling the children and young people to access physical education.
Volunteers support children and young people in various group settings to help them enjoy new experiences, develop new interests and build their confidence. Children, young people and volunteers have the opportunity to go out and about in the local community and have fun!
Aberlour Sycamore Highland is one of several children’s houses across Scotland offering a safe and loving place to live for children who have experienced abuse and trauma. Our vision is that our children’s houses will provide a loving home where everyone laughs, learns, grows into the future, and is treasured always. We put the children and young people who live with us at the heart of everything we do. Our approach is therapeutic, allowing young people to take responsibility for their own choices and be important voices in decisions that affect their lives. This approach means we support them to understand and overcome their trauma and go on to live happy lives. The children and young people we look after are active members of their communities, encouraged to participate in local clubs and groups.
Volunteers are a very important part of the healing process required to support our children and young people back into the cycle of positive social development.
What will I be doing?
• Making a difference in a child or young person’s life by spending time with them
• Sharing an activity/hobby
• Supporting them whilst they take part in an activity/hobby
• Supporting them when difficulties arise
• Completing a diary after each visit
• Attending regular support sessions
• Contributing to service assessments through support.

Volunteer Leaders [or assistants] to support the 1st Wick Beaver Group provide Scouting instruction to young people [age 6-8] to help with good citizenship and social interaction
Helping out in a BB group with children and young people can make all the difference to young lives – meaning happier young people, happier communities and a society that values the contribution that we can all make; young, old or in-between. We call our volunteers “leaders” because they guide a course for children and young people.
Many of our volunteers say they’ve learned things through their involvement with BB that have helped them to get new jobs or even change career. This would be ideal for someone undergoing Teacher Training. For example, as well as helping out in a local BB group, you might like to train as a Trainer and help run courses for other volunteers. Once you volunteer there’s a whole world of opportunities for you to participate in within our movement – locally, nationally or internationally.
For further information about the Boys’ Brigade within South Ayrshire, please contact – Stuart Hyslop, Ayr Battalion Secretary, Tel – 07709 715545 or email stuarthyslop@btinternet.com. Please also visit our website ayr.boys-brigade.org.uk or the Boys’ Brigade main website – boys-brigade.org.uk for any other assistance.
Research shows that the fact we volunteer and help others makes us happier! If you choose BB as the place to volunteer, that would make us very happy!

Oshay’s Brain Domain CIC, previously known as Oshay’s FASD, was formed in 2019 to raise awareness, spread knowledge & understanding of what FASD is, and support for the individual with FASD.
We also provided a much needed support service for biological parents, foster carers, adoptive parents, kinship carers and step parents across the whole of the UK, as well as the professionals who work and support these families.
Now, after the Covid-19 pandemic, we have relaunched as Oshay’s Brain Domain’s CIC
This allows us to offer all our support and services to more people that are effected by ANY brain based condition.
We would like the support of a group leader/tutor fluent in Makaton and/or BSL to support parents and staff to relate with nonverbal children.
As part of our volunteer support package, we offer bi-monthly volunteer meetings during which volunteers can share updates, opinions, discussions, etc. Any out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed and volunteer night outs. We can give references after 6 months commitment with our group.
Put your skills to use, learn new ones and play an active role in your community. Volunteering is easier than you think. with full support and training, you can volunteer on a flexible basis. Give young people the skills they need to succeed in life and discover how being part of the Scouting family can be as rewarding for you as it is for them.
What do volunteers do?
Week by week, our volunteers empower thousands of young people to learn new skills, make new friends and stand on their own two feet. They’re our everyday heroes. They shape young people’s lives for the better, and find out a whole lot about themselves in the process, too.
That’s where you come in.
You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Beaver or Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about minibus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.
Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in.
We provide the training.
All of our adult volunteers receive full induction and ongoing training and support. Our training has been recognised with a National Training Award by UK Skills and over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.
You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life.
As long as you're over 18, you can help out as a Beaver leader. There is no upper age limit for adult volunteers.
Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is.
