Elgin & District Men's Shed is a place for men to create, chat, and connect with one another.
This is an exciting time to join the Shed as it seeks new premises (and continues to share its talents too, by making some very helpful products for other charities in the local community).
The treasurer's role is to help oversee and monitor the financial running of the group and to make sure that good accounting practices are followed. Bring your skills and knowledge to our residents - art, crafts, health and wellbeing, seated yoga, low impact exercises, seated exercises, guitar strumming, lead a choir, any sharable skill is welcome. Expenses for any equipment or material used during the sessions will be reimbursed. Develop positive relationships with staff, visitors, and residents and participate with activities and events.
- No prior training is needed, except for an enthusiasm to be with our residents.
- Induction training is provided.
- PVG checks needed and will be paid for by social care.

Volunteers will be given a minimum of 4 weeks training to learn how to use equipment and software. They then will go on to do a few shows with a current presenter and then go on to host there own show.

Their Health Challenge & Siblings Camps are magical places where campers take part in fun activities including Sports and Games, Drama, Arts and Crafts and Discovery. Campers will be divided into teams based on their age groups of 8-10, 11-13, 13-15 and 15-17 years of age.
Participate in daily camper life to provide nursing/medical care. Facilitate a medically sound and safe camp experience for children with chronic and life threatening illnesses by contributing to a 24/7 provision of residential medical care. Clinical volunteers will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Nursing Coordinators.
You will also be part of a team of other incredible volunteers and will need a sense of fun with an energetic, enthusiastic and positive approach. Camp is four days long and you will be required to arrive one day early for training. We will give you all the necessary training and support and provide your accommodation and food for the duration of camp.
Requirements:
NURSE
- Registered Children’s, Adult or Learning Disabilities nurse.
- Qualified for 18 months (Children’s nurse), 2 years (Adult/ Learning Disabilities nurse) or 12 months if previously a student nurse with Over The Wall
- Registered with NMC
- Holds professional indemnity insurance
- Holds valid, current life support training.
DOCTOR
- ST2 or above (or equivalent) Pediatrics, GP or A&E or have recent Pediatric experience Registered with the GMC
- Holds professional indemnity insurance
- Holds valid, current life support training.
PARAMEDIC
- Qualified Paramedic
- Post registration experience: 2 years
- Registered with HCPC
- Holds professional indemnity insurance with College of Paramedics

Join their activity team to run some fantastic sessions that have been planned by the activity team and will be taught to you so that you can confidently run them and help bring some fun and excitement to the sessions.
Over the Wall are looking for some amazing people to take on a role as Activity Leader at their Camps in 2023. Do you have a secret talent you’d love to run as an activity? E.g. Arts and Crafts, drama or sports? They’ve previously had origami sessions and woodwork that they could not have run without their amazing volunteers coming forward to provide.

They do this by providing free of charge, transformative activity camps throughout the UK.

Team mates help create a fun, safe and supportive environment for children with health challenges and their siblings to try new things, have amazing impactful experiences, build confidence and time for reflection on all their achievements. You will be part of a team of other incredible volunteers and will need a sense of fun with an energetic, enthusiastic and positive approach.
Camp is 2 - 4 days long and you will be required to arrive one day early for training. Over The Wall will give you all the necessary training and support and provide your accommodation and food for the duration of camp.

This role involves visiting blind and partially sighted people in their homes, installing their new radio and teaching them how to use it as well as proving ongoing support, where needed. This role also involves a small amount of admin.
The role is based within your local area. You will be asked to travel around a reasonable distance within your local area. (To be mutually agreed.)
Each visit will take around 2 hours to complete. Depending on your area, we envisage that there will be around 1-2 visits per month.
What does the role involve?
• Contact recipients by phone to agree appointment time
• Visit people in their homes and install our audio equipment
• Give instruction and demonstration of the equipment
• Complete paperwork for each visit
• Make follow up telephone call, and if required arrange further visit and training
• Collect broken sets and arrange repairs
• Deliver replacement sets to existing clients
Children’s Hospices Across Scotland - CHAS (Clacks)
Childcare volunteers look after siblings of affected children in the afternoon or evening, allowing their parents to go out for a rare break during their stay in the hospice. Parents caring for a child with a life-shortening condition in addition to other children don’t often have the chance to enjoy quality time together. Childcare volunteers enables parents to spend time together without having to worry about child care. This is a rare treat for many parents supported by CHAS.
WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL I BE INVOLVED IN?
- Looking after a child or children within the hospice whilst parents/guardians are out.
- Getting the child/children ready for bed according to normal bedtime routines.
- Supervising the child/children until the parents/guardians return.
- Liaising with the care team.
WHAT SKILLS AND ABILITIES WILL I NEED TO HAVE?
- Experience of children (through family or work).
- An ability to relate to children and young people.
- Patience, empathy and tact.
- An ability to represent CHAS enthusiastically and appropriately.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience of childcare.
- Adhere to rules around GDPR and a strong understanding of confidentiality.
- Shared values with the organisation: respect, care, honesty, accountability.
HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I OFFER?
You can volunteer any day of the week, in the afternoon or evening. Shifts are flexible and can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. This can be discussed and agreed with your Volunteer manager and the Hospice Volunteering Development Manager.

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland - CHAS (Clacks)
Complementary therapists offer specialist therapy to parents as a method of relaxation during their stay in the hospice. On occasions therapists may be asked to work with affected children or siblings if they have the appropriate qualifications.
WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL I BE INVOLVED IN?
- Providing therapy to parents for relaxation during their stay in the hospice
- Providing therapy to children if requested by the Care Team and parents
- At times providing therapy to staff and volunteers on request
- Keeping detailed, confidential records of treatment
- Managing or access to sensitive and confidential medical and personal information regarding the children and families accessing our services
- Complying with the CHAS Complementary Therapies Policy
- Complying with Health and Safety regulations governing the use of equipment and oils
WHAT SKILLS AND ABILITIES WILL I NEED TO HAVE?
- Excellent people skills
- Experienced therapist with recognised qualification (all therapists must have successfully undergone training which is recognised by one of the voluntary regulatory bodies)
- An ability to represent CHAS enthusiastically and appropriately
- An ability to relate to people of all ages
- Good communication skills
- Adhere to rules around GDPR and a strong understanding of confidentiality
