Love Her Wild is a UK-based nonprofit women’s adventure community. We believe outdoor adventures boost well-being, increase confidence and help protect our planet through better connections to nature. Love Her Wild is an inclusive community providing opportunities, support and funding to make the outdoors more accessible. We’ve taken thousands of women on adventures from first-time mountain hikes to world-first overseas expeditions! To learn more about Love Her Wild visit the website: https://www.loveherwild.com/
Many of these experiences are run in our Local Groups and led by Local Wilders. We now have 39 local groups covering the whole of the UK including 10 groups in Scotland! Most of our Scottish groups are new so we are reaching out for volunteers who can help us build the community in Scotland. Each of these groups is run by a Local Wilder. These groups give women and non-binary people the opportunity to connect with others looking for adventure, ask for advice, share their stories, and join local meetups.
Local Wilders have a wide ranging but flexible role which can be adapted to suit the needs of the volunteer and the wants of the Local Group. As well as leading outdoor activities you will also be responsible for a Facebook group and community. Most groups have more than one Local Wilder who work together to manage their group. The description bellow outlines the typical responsibility taken on by a local wilder. however if you are interested in volunteer but are not sure you are able to meet certain aspects of the role then please get in touch so we can discuss how you could be involved.
You need to be:
• Enthusiastic about helping other women experience adventure.
• Confident to stand up, chat and lead in front of a group of women.
• Experienced enough to lead a walk/ride/swim etc in your local area.
• Competent enough on social media to help with admin work within the group.
• Able to commit to running 8 (or more!) events each year as Local Wilder as a mixture of evening and weekend events.
As a local wilder you will be expected to:
• Help admin the online group (approx 1 hour per week, usually 10 minutes a day),
approving membership requests, checking the mood of discussions (stepping in if required to maintain peace), and removing any advertising or offensive members. We will work together as team to do this and discuss any borderline cases together by messenger.
• Run FREE local events in your local group. (approx 8 per year between 3-7hours) These could be walks, bike rides, , wild swims, canoe trips, camping trips, surfing, picnic’s, SUP trips, trail running or anything else that you fancy organising!
• Help maintain online engagement within the Facebook group (particularly over the winter months) This might include hosting a free online zoom event or sharing educational content.
Benefits and rewards.
• It’s hugely rewarding. You'll get to accompany people on life changing trips from their first wild swims, first camping trips and confidence building first expeditions.
• The opportunity to meet and chat with a broad range of women and make new friendships.
• There is the option to run occasional paid events within our group (once you have some experience with running free events). With the agreement of Love Her Wild staff and using pre-approved qualified leaders the Local Wilder who undertakes the organisation for these events will have a free place made available to them in return for their time.
• Free attendance at the Local Wilder Weekend (run approximately every 9 months). This is a weekend open to all Local Wilders giving them an opportunity to meet each other, gain advice and mentorship, take part in training and have lots of fun!
Dyce & Stoneywood Community Association is looking to recruit volunteers to help us with our programme, These opportunities are:
• Running exercise classes such as Technogym: Technogym is a light exercise class with the use of machines to help people of low fitness get back into exercising. You will need to go through a 2 hour training session for health and safety. These classes run weekly and you will be working alongside another volunteer to help with running the class and cover.
• Movie Club: We run a monthly movie club and would require someone who enjoys movies to help run this for us.
• Youth Activities: such as Lego club and potential summer and holiday activities. PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups check/scheme membership) will be required.

Our successful #AndSheCycles campaign in Scotland aims to address what prevents teenage girls and young women from cycling. We are now looking to help reach an even wider audience.
We worked with a creative agency, Heehaw, to develop a creative campaign that will help encourage more girls and young women to cycle.
One of our main aims is to increase visibility of girls cycling. You can help with this by joining our team of creative people to spread the word and images on social media.
Become an advocate for sustainable travel and help share the benefits of cycling to girls and young women in Scotland. You will help:
- create and share social media posts regularly
- keep an eye on posts and comment on these
- try to improve our reach and widen our audience, particularly on Instagram
- run specific campaigns or competitions
- engage with other social media pages.
- You can also join #AndSheCycles cycle rides across Scotland to engage with the project, if interested.
We are open to your input on how you would like to help and what you specifically want to get out of it. We would love to hear your creative input. We can have a chat about it together.
Our team will support you with creating social media content, provide direction on what to post and how to manage the account(s). You will also receive a specific social media training course and continued support for your further development.
Our campaign is aimed specifically at young women and girls. We encourage people of all genders to join; role models and allies are also important to this campaign.
Your volunteering can be formalised through the Saltire Award or count towards your Duke of Edinburgh award too.
Does this sound like you?
You…
- are interested in encouraging more girls and young women to cycle in your area
- like being creative and would enjoy putting content for social media together
- may be looking to develop your creative, communication and social media skills for future employment
- can carry out tasks independently and / or with a diverse group of people
- share our values and mission to get more people cycling, walking and wheeling in your community.
Then let us know your interest in helping with our creative media activities for the #AndSheCycles campaign.

Supporting a local charity aimed at inclusiveness and working to promote, sustain and increase individual education and access to local, fresh grown produce. To help alleviate food poverty, to promote healthy living and access to outdoor spaces and to enhance community cohesiveness. To support and empower those who are impacted by health.
Various roles are available depending on preference. We have a wide list of opportunities from helping in the gardens, becoming a lead volunteer, mentoring other volunteers, helping out at activities and open days in the community gardens, being involved in the online presence of the charity eg taking pictures and possibly helping with IT. We are also involved with several other initiatives and we are happy to discuss volunteer involvement in these areas too, where appropriate.
Our volunteers do amazing things – working with girls, sleepovers, camps, adventurous activities, adventures at home and abroad.
And it’s not just about the girls – make new friends, share a skill, spend time laughing and playing.
There are so many roles available within Girlguiding.
Whether you are a new to our charity and choosing your first role or thinking about your progression as a volunteer - you'll find something to suit you. Use our role descriptions to plan what to do next or to show your team how they can develop their skills. Your journey through Girlguiding is up to you.

Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
An example of events you could be delivering a first aid talk and demo to, are primary and secondary schools, small university groups, local community groups, charities, summer fairs, shopping centres. Some of the skills you could be teaching include how to provide CPR and apply a defib, different bandages and how to use them, and basic information on various health conditions. Not only that but all the training needed, is provided by us at no cost to you!
A fantastic opportunity to help. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.
For a man/woman role that includes assisting with the day-to-day admin duties for this organisation plus helping with more specialised work for funding applications and reporting and ensuring that all relevant forms are available to the membership.
This would allow the committee to promote and grow the organization more.
