Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults. The role is all about promoting first aid awareness and helping to achieve our mission to create a nation of lifesavers.
Our Outdoor Education Assistant role is varied and includes helping our experienced staff to deliver play, school, weekend events and birthday parties. It's a great opportunity to develop new outdoor learning and Play Ranger skills, including designing and delivering activities for all ages.

Are you passionate about recycling? Green transport? Making things more accessible?
Do you want to get out and about in your local community whilst giving a helping hand?
The Tamfourhill Tenants and Residents Organisation are looking for volunteers to help with a new Project which aims to support people who don’t have access to the recycling centre due to lack of access to a car or other accessibility barriers.
In order to enable people to get rid of rubbish and recycling, our team of volunteers will visit houses which have booked a collection, pick up waste, transport it onto e-cargo bikes and then load up a van which will be driven to the recycling centre.
This will not only keep the area cleaner in terms of waste, it will also reduce emissions by limiting car trips to the recycling centre and promote cargo bikes as a travel option.
This will ensure Camelon and Tamfourhill is a cleaner community for everyone and tackle social isolation.
Volunteers are needed in x2 roles:
1. Collection Volunteers are needed to travel around residential areas on foot/bike to collect bagged and unwanted rubbish from residents who have pre-booked a collection. They will also support our e-cargo bikers to load up cargo for the recycling centre or to be taken to a van.
2. E-Cargo Bikers are needed to collect bagged and unwanted rubbish from residents who have pre-booked a collection using a e-cargo bike before cycling the cargo to a nearby van for offloading.
Note: If you are interested in becoming an E-Cargo Bike volunteer, Forth Environment Link will be providing training so you can cycle with confidence (even if you have never ridden an e-bike before!).
The project will initially run for 4 x 2 week blocks (8 weeks in total) in September and November 2023 and then January and March 2024, so, we are looking for people who can volunteer for a minimum of 4 days (weekdays or weekend days - days meaning 4/5 hours onsite) during the 8 month project.
Volunteers will be safety briefed by Tamfourhill Tenants and Residents Organisation and PPE will be provided. All volunteers will also be well supported throughout and there will be a ‘on call’ volunteer available to help, advise and solve any issues.
All walking and cycling during collections will be on residential streets.
If you are interested in this role please contact Babs McCool, Project Support Volunteer via email: babs.mccool6889@gmail.com or phone: 07746 073782
WDCS Shorewatch programme is looking for dedicated volunteers to carry out 10 minute whale and dolphin monitoring surveys ('Shorewatch') from designated watching sites along the Scottish Coastline., and at points in Caithness. Volunteers will be trained to identify common whale, dolphin and porpoise species found in Scottish waters, use specialised watching equipment and record presence and absense sightings data. The programme aims to provide long term, regular and year-round monitoring at sites of particular interest. With the aim of learning more about how whales and dolphins use these areas; highlighting any changes in distribution and behaviour. By collecting information to help WDCS understand more about whales and dolphins locally, volunteers will be actively contributing to their protection. This opportunity is active all year around.
Volunteer in Dunnet Forest, helping with general maintenance, tree planting etc. We are expanding our volunteer workdays to include Sundays 11am-2pm. Are you green fingered? Good at growing vegetables? Passionate about getting more people growing food in Falkirk?
Project Food at FEL are looking for Volunteers to be Garden Buddies!
You’ll be part of a project which aims to plant the seed for healthier, more sustainable futures by helping people grow their own food and make tasty, nutritious meals with it.
Through buddying, mentoring, networking and peer learning, we help community leaders and volunteers share food knowledge and get more produce growing locally.
As a Garden Buddy, you’ll be matched to a community project with a garden and will be there to guide them as they develop their growing project.
So, whether you consider yourself an expert when it comes to growing food or you’ve managed to get some herb pots going and grown some garden veggies – we want to hear from you!
How you support and how much time you commit is completely up to you and who you’re matched with. It could be 1 hr a month where you have a monthly planning session over coffee, it could be ad-hoc remote advice, or it could be a couple of hours a week/month of hands-on involvement in the growing process.
If you don’t quite consider yourself an expert, this could even be an opportunity to learn alongside your community project if you are looking to build on your own skills and knowledge!
