Our amazing team of vibrant & diverse volunteers helps us run over 700 shops. Our stores sell lots of great donated & new goods to help raise vital funds to make a real difference to disadvantaged children, young people and families across the UK.
Our retail stores are the face of our charity on the high-street and in local communities. We have loads of amazing stock donated to us every week, and this all needs to be sorted, tagged and put on the shop-floor for sale!
Making sure our shops look fantastic is another task you can get involved with. You may also be required to help out on the till too, but we will show you how that works during your time volunteering with us. We value the contribution of everyone who supports Barnardo’s.
You will be a friendly face of Barnardo’s by volunteering in one of our shops. It would be great if you could volunteer one shift a week (or even more if you want) but we’re always happy to be flexible to work around your availability.

Dates-n-mates is a friendship and dating agency for adults with learning disabilities offering social events to enable people to socialise, make friends and form meaningful relationships. Our work is underpinned by a human rights-based approach. We believe it is people’s right to live life free of discrimination and to develop friendships and relationships of their choosing, to love and be loved.
Our events include going to restaurants, pubs, cinema, tenpin bowling, day trips and walks. Events take place afternoons and evenings and usually last 2 hours.
As an Events Supporter, you will attend the event and help the members to interact while they’re together. It’s all about helping them to have a safe, enjoyable and friendly time. It’s sociable, great fun and very rewarding!
A large number of people with learning disabilities feel lonely and socially isolated. Your support will help to change this.
We ask for a minimum of 1 event per month.

About Us
We are currently looking for a Branch Collection Organiser to join the Fundraising Events Team in Montrose.The RNLI has a network of local fundraising teams organising a wide range of activities and events which last year raised £14 million to save lives at sea. Each team is supported by a Community Manager, although the range and frequency of fundraising events is determined by the team members themselves.
The impact you will make
You will enable volunteer RNLI lifeboat crews to save lives at sea by organising and carrying out vital fundraising activity in your local community.
What you will be doing
Planning and organising fundraising collections, including applying for relevant licences where applicable.
Supporting recruitment and organisation of volunteers to carry out collections
Liaising with the branch treasurer to ensure income from collections is correctly recorded and banked
Encouraging and welcoming new members and supporters into the RNLI, to drive our One Crew ethos

This is a varied and interesting role which provides much needed support to our team of very busy Community Fundraisers. You will be helping to generate as much money and awareness as possible in your local area so that CHAS can deliver vital services to children with a life-shortening condition across Scotland and to their families, too.
What activities might I be involved in?
- Leading local events like bucket shakes, community stalls and bag packs
- Making approaches to secure these opportunities, leading other volunteers on the day and counting cash raised to get it ready for banking
- Getting fundraising materials, like banners and buckets, ready for local events
- Carrying out local research to support specific projects agreed with the CHAS team
- Approaching local groups to arrange talks by a CHAS speaker
- Undertaking any training that will help you with your role.
What skills and abilities will I need to have?
- Friendly and outgoing personality
- Good communication and numeracy skills
- Good attention to detail
- Willingness to work as part of a team and to take the lead
How much time should I offer?
This is a flexible role with lots of variety and some periods will be much busier than others. Your local Community Fundraiser, who will be your volunteer manager, will be happy to chat about how much time you can commit to the role.

Supporting the CHAS Fundraising Team helps CHAS to raise as much money as possible for children with a life-shortening condition. Community Fundraising Support volunteers are often the first point of contact for the public, so you will be a real ambassador in your local community and can help to make a big difference to first impressions and awareness of CHAS.

The role is for those age 16+.We will pay your out of pocket expenses in line with the CHAS volunteer expenses policy.

Caseworkers visit clients to work out what type of help they need. Next, they find the right sources of support and arrange for clients to access it. This might be funds for special equipment for someone with a disability, adaptions to a property so an older client can remain at home or funds for a rental deposit. Caseworkers also sign-post clients onto specialist local services for advice on benefits, housing, mental health, debt, finding work etc.
The essential part of the role is interacting with clients, so you may be visiting clients or doing this virtually. As part of your local branch you might have access to an office, but many volunteers are based at home.
What does this role involve?
• Contacting clients and arranging to meet them at a mutually convenient time either face-to-face or remotely
• Liaising with clients and completing a form to assess their circumstances
• Sign-posting clients onto local services providing specialist advice
• Applying on the client’s behalf to military and non-military sources of charitable funding
• Arranging for the purchase of goods and services
• Keeping in touch with the client so they know how their case is progressing
• Keeping in touch with your branch so they know your availability
• Keeping up to date with training and SSAFA news so that you are best able to support clients
• Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser
• Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the
Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
