This includes volunteering at our charity shop in George Street, Aberdeen: We need Charity Shop Assistants who would meet and serve customers at our shop. Come and support us to raise money to support lonely and isolated people. Any amount of hour is appreciated. Just let us know your availability and we shall fit you in. In return you shall be working with a team of friendly people from diverse groups who are always willing to support each other to ensure the we achieve our goal. Our Young People Volunteer Befrienders are matched on a 1:1 basis with a child aged (5-16) within the Aberdeen community and through caring, reliability and consistency build up a trusting relationship, thus providing positive role model. Befrienders shall support the young people to access/attend activities within the community to reduce isolation, promote self-confidence/esteem and to help young people to begin to learn life skills. We’ll give you all the training and support you need to do your role. All help will make a difference and be greatly appreciated. The 70/30 Campaign is aiming to reduce child abuse and neglect by 70% by 2030. As a 70/30 Ambassador you will be empowering your local community to protect our children by spreading awareness and gaining support to prevent child abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. You will gain new skills, and be part of a large network of volunteers and professionals, while making a real difference in your local community and across the UK. The role is very flexible and depends on your skills and on the needs in your local area, but you can take part in a range of activities, such as: spreading awareness with people you know and on social media; fundraising; organising events; engaging with MPs, MSPs, AMs and councillors; engaging with local press; expanding your local 70/30 group. Ambassadors will take part in a training session with a member of the team and are invited to join the bi-monthly national conference call with other ambassadors across the country. Ambassadors usually give 2 or more hours of their time a week, but get in touch if you are interested and don't have much time available as there is always some way you can help! >Our mission The Youth Radio Network is a digital place where young people can easily access and develop their skills and interests. It acts as a sounding board for youth news and issues and promotes all youth organizations. The Youth Radio Network's focus is on young people, and topical issues such as Bullying, Racism, LGBT and much more. Our music is generally chart music, and we play any young artists/bands from across the world. The aim is to have a fresh and upbeat sound and something that young people feel; they can get involved in and we encourage our young people to influence the music we play. There are also opportunities for our listeners to interact with radio programmes. We will highlight any young musicians, artists or bands, after all, it’s the internet and you never know who may be discovered next! The Youth Radio Network is completely digital so anyone can present for us from any location! We also want to help young people ages 16 to 25 years old get into employment and we hope that we can help open many doors for young people looking for a career in the broadcasting industries. >Our vision The Youth Radio Network’s vision is to empower, teach and entertain young people, aged 13 to 25 years, through the power of music and digital technology, opening doors to the broadcast industries, and to become more employable helping them to get the best start in life. *Teach - Teach young people how the broadcasting industry works and what is involved. Help them understand what employers in different industries look for. This could include: helping them build/create their CV, doing mock interviews, helping them build contacts and get different experiences! *Empower - Give young people the opportunities, skills, and equipment they need to get experience in the broadcast industry. We do this through our cloud-based web system that allows our volunteers to broadcast from anywhere in the world with just a PC / Laptop, an internet connection and a USB microphone! We will also empower young people to: have a voice and speak their opinions; be heard and recognized for what they do as singer songwriters; and, gain as much experience in different industries as possible and help them to be more employable so they have the best start in life! *Entertain - The Youth Radio Network wants to entertain young people out there and have a radio station dedicated to them, making sure it is sounding fresh and upbeat and something that young people feel; they can get involved in. We will also highlight any young musicians or artists or bands through this! After all it is the internet and you never know who you will discover next! >Volunteering Opportunities We work with all our volunteers to understand their skill sets, needs and aspirations for the future (whatever that may be). All volunteers are required to complete an application form and to agree to certain terms and conditions and that helps our support workers to match potential volunteers to the most suitable roles that will help them with their goals. The roles we have on offer vary from time to time and they generally centre around: *Broadcasting: presenter/DJ, producer, technical support/engineering. *Marketing, fundraising and business development: PR, marketing, events, web/app development, content production. *Volunteer Management: youth support, training, human resources. *Operations: station admin, finance, IT, facilities. *Volunteers are key to the success of SensationALL! *Do you have an hour or more to spare and want to make a difference in a fun and friendly environment? SensationALL run sensory based therapy groups and services for children and adults with multiple support needs. We need volunteers to assist our team in delivering engaging and rewarding sessions for all our service users. You would be involved in activities such as crafts, baking, games and music as well as helping with the set-up, making refreshments and tidying up. Our children’s groups include access to our soft play area so they can experience free play in safe and comfortable surroundings as well as structured messy play, sensory story-time or craft activities. Individuals interested in gaining experience working with people who have sensory and learning disabilities and autism will particularly benefit from volunteering with us however no previous experience is required. Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. We also require volunteers to help with: *Fundraising *Events *IT/admin tasks *Maintenance/equipment cleaning *Trustee Board Members Good support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. Every volunteer is given an induction prior to starting. Once actively volunteering with us we will extend the opportunity to attend any in-house training such as first aid, introduction to Autism, Makaton amongst others. The Friday Youth club is a vital social club for all children in Garthdee. Bring your best attitude and come help us make Friday Youth Club something the kids won't forget! Your responsibilities will be: 1) To assist in the running of the youth programme. 2) To supervise young people and ensure general health & safety and rules of conduct. 3) To assist with necessary programme set-up and clean-up. 4) To facilitate and participate in games, activities and discussions with young people This is also a great opportunity to develop you customer services, communication and care skills. ARCHIE Child Bereavement Service (part of the ARCHIE Foundation charity) provide direct support to bereaved children and young people throughout Grampian. Due to an increased demand in our service we are seeking volunteers in a variety of areas including: responders to visit bereaved families, fundraisers, event and admin helpers and a treasurer. Key objectives of our Volunteers are: To support the work of GCBN through contributing to the range of services provided. To make a positive difference to the lives of the children, young people and their families who have been affected by bereavement Our responder service entails people visiting bereaved families and undertaking direct support work with children and young people and their families. We also run event days for children staffed up by our volunteers. We are particularly keen to recruit a volunteer with a financial or accounts background to take on our treasurer role. Excellent support and training is provided to all volunteers e.g.: induction includes self awareness, policy and procedures of charity. Training in child protection and bereavement support. Are you a good listener, non-judgemental and empathetic with an ability to relate to traumatic life experiences that some of the children/young people referred to us may have faced? Befriend a Child is a local charity that provides 1:1 befriending and mentoring services for school aged children and young people. We recruit caring adults who act as role models for school-aged children who face some kind of disadvantage. They spend time together on a 1:1 basis, talking, sharing and having fun. Could that be you? If you are reliable and fun-loving, with a positive disposition and you can commit to sparing a few hours each month, you could make a huge difference in a young person’s life.
