Our vision is to create ….. “A world in which digital services are equally accessible to all” As an AbilityNet Tech volunteer you can help unleash the power of technology to ensure that older people and disabled people are not excluded from the digital world. “One of your advisors, Trevor, has been helping me with some very basic computer skills on a tablet that I have hardly touched since it was bought for me as a present from my wife. I suffer from Parkinson’s and it is very difficult for me to concentrate. Trevor has been extremely kind and patient and has opened up a world I hardly knew existed.” (AbilityNet client). - Overview: All across the country our 300 volunteers support older and/or disabled people at home to offer one-to-one support with their technology, whether that’s a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet. Our volunteers: -Trouble shoot technical issues. -Offer impartial advice on technology. -Set up new tech and install hardware and software. -Show people how to use their tech at home e.g. shop online, send and receive emails and Skype with family and friends. -Make adaptations to support a disabled person’s specific technology needs. - What will I be doing? -Contacting clients to arrange a date/time to support (home visits or supporting them remotely). -Carrying out tech support for the clients you have accepted. -Feeding back on progress via our online ticketing system. -Supporting your local Coordinator with promoting the volunteer service in the local area. -Getting together with other tech volunteers at team meetings and wider company events. -Undergoing training on technology, particularly adaptive technology. -Supporting other volunteers through our online chat facility. - What skills do I need?: You don’t need to be a tech guru to help out. If you use a computer at home or work, and perhaps support family and friends with their tech issues, you are likely to have the skills we need: -A passion to help others. -Good IT and computer skills. -Knowledge of standard operating systems and software. -The ability to communicate well with people. -Patience and empathy. - What are the benefits to me?: As an AbilityNet Tech volunteer you can: -Change the lives of disabled and older people. -Benefit from technology and disability training. -Network with a nationwide team of other Tech volunteers. -Be flexible with your volunteering and plan it around your other work and home commitments. - How much time will I need to offer?: The service is client led and will depend on the demand in your local area. The work is flexible and you can arrange visits around your home and work commitments. Be a Chairperson for a charity providing vital support and information for people with brain injury, their families and carers. The chairperson plays a vital role in assisting the board in organising the smooth running of the support group. Build your experience and share your skills for Fife Headway. This role is vital to help run the work that they do. The role is varied and may include the following: -Planning the annual cycle of board meetings -Setting agendas for board meetings -Chairing and facilitating board meetings -Giving direction to board policymaking -Monitoring that decisions taken at meetings are implemented -Representing the Headway Group at functions, meetings -Acting as a spokesperson as appropriate -Bringing impartiality and objectivity to decision-making

To drive HcL vehicles as agreed with opportunities available across our different services including our Dial- A -Bus, Dial- A -Ride and our group transport. We provide supported door-through-door transport for people with mobility challenges – either from age, disability, health issues or additional support needs. Our drivers not only collect passengers from their front door but help passengers from inside their home and onto the bus. This can include helping them put their coat on, turning the key to lock their home and assisting them from their home to the vehicle and safely into a seat and fastening their seatbelt.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a historic charity with a formidable reputation and to help the Board build a long-term plan. VSA has over 150 years’ experience of delivering social care in Aberdeen, to vulnerable people, adults and older people with learning difficulties and mental health needs. We have grown to be a major employer with an accredited Skills Qualification Centre. VSA has a strong corporate and community volunteering tradition. Today, VSA is of a medium sized company providing education, housing support and social care to young people and adults with complex needs. We particularly want to hear from people with a medical background, or current skills in the following: charity & company law, complex learning & behavioural education/social care and environmental/social governance. Key aspects of trustee roles at VSA are as follows: • To assist the Chair in providing Board leadership on specific areas of strategic direction • To act as an effective champion for VSA • To ensure that VSA has people with LD & MH at the heart of decision making • To oversee and ensure the implementation of VSA policies, with responsibility for occasional decisions on individual recipient cases • To ensure effective corporate governance, risk management and financial management of VSA • To ensure public accountability for the funds for which VSA receives from central and local government and raises independently • To uphold the highest ethical standards of integrity and probity and comply with the Board’s Code of Conduct You will be interested in joining VSA’s Board if you have a personal commitment to supporting vulnerable children, young adults and older people with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs to lead the best of life alongside current practices in the above field. This role is not remunerated but all reasonable expenses, for example childcare, travel etc will be covered. The time commitment is approx 8 to 10 days per year. This is likely to include attendance at Board or Committee meetings, reading and preparation time, and other meetings such as Strategy or Stakeholder. Across Scotland, we will provide vital advice, information, and support through our No Life Half Lived strategy. Join our amazing team of Community Support Volunteers, who support people with one or more of our conditions to develop autonomy and confidence in self-management, enabling them to fully engage with their community and activities of their choosing. The service follows a pathway from hospital to community and can be delivered in a one-to-one and/or group setting in person, virtually or via telephone.
