As an online support group volunteer, you will provide remote help with the online elements of supporting a Stroke Association support group. In some cases, working online can feel overwhelming which is why supporting in role could make a huge difference for groups. The role is designed to suit the needs of the group, and the skills of people offering support. If you enjoy getting to know your community, working with others and making a real difference then this is the role for you. To do this role you will be someone who has their own computer and is happy to support remotely.
People affected by stroke often struggle with isolation, feelings of loneliness and maybe are unable to take part in community activities they once enjoyed. We want to be there for them during this difficult time. Here for You provides two distinct telephone roles: Lived Experience and Connect and chat volunteers.
Lived experience volunteers have to be a stroke survivor, or carer with experience of caring for someone who has had a stroke. Volunteers should have at least one year of lived experience. They will be matched with other stroke survivors and carers according to their lived experience so they can offer unique and empathetic support.
Connect and Chat volunteers offer a beneficiary an informal chat about anything they find interesting to help them feel connected and engaged. A volunteer does not need lived experience of having had a stroke, or of being a carer, in order to undertake this role.

Seagull Trust Cruises provide free canal day cruises for the elderly, infirm, and those with special needs. Founded back in 1978, and operating from 4 Scottish bases, we are wholly run by volunteers, and 100% funded by grants and donations. Seagull Trust Cruises operate the largest fleet of charity boats in Gt. Britain. We are currently looking for a Volunteer Copywriter / Newsletter Editor to help produce an on-line newsletter ("Mailchimp" or similar) which will be distributed to our members, supporters, beneficiaries etc. This is a brand new initiative therefore giving scope to influence the publication design and content from the outset.
We are looking for an excellent written communicator, perhaps with design ability to work with others in the Charity (Scotland wide) to identify stories, and items of interest to the newsletter readership. Some ability to manipulate images would be beneficial but not compulsory, as others in the team will be able to assist.

As one of our Drivers you will drive to and from pre decided outing destinations ensuring a meeting place and time is decided upon with other staff for returning home, ensure the vehicle is kept clean and tidy at all times, helping assist the staff members with accompanying guests on to the vehicle and ensuring they are secure and help to carry out safety checks on the vehicle. There will be the chance to assist on various trips as well if you wish and provide feedback any issues i.e suitability of venue or/and vehicle.
Through this opportunity you'll have the chance to meet and work with new people, access training and have the support of a member of the operations team. Your volunteering will be improving the lives of people and their families living with long term conditions as well as being part of a fun, enthusiastic and supportive team.
As an outings assistant you will assist along with members of the care team on trips, being more of a friend to the guest and giving them that 1-1 interaction that they may not have at home. You would need to assist when appropriate with drinking and eating whilst on an outing as part of this role. You will have the opportunity to assist on many various trips.
Through this opportunity you'll have the chance to meet and work with new people, access training and have the support of a member of the operations team. Your volunteering will be improving the lives of people and their families living with long term conditions as well as being part of a fun, enthusiastic and supportive team.

Our breakfast assistants volunteer alongside the General Catering Assistants at Leuchie, to ensure that our guests receive their chosen breakfast in a timely fashion when they arrive in the dining room in the morning.
Duties include:
• Assisting in setting up the dining room
• Preparing breakfast for guests as they arrive
• Preparing & delivering breakfast trays to guests who are taking breakfast in their room
• Assisting guests with eating & drinking as required
• Clearing dishes to dishwasher
• Returning clean dishes to dining room
The social aspect of this role is equally as important as these duties – our guests hugely enjoy the wide range of staff and volunteers they interact with. The focus at Leuchie is on a holiday environment and this role is key to setting them up for the day.
Fundraising Volunteers help Leuchie House raise our profile and funds to help families affected by long term conditions as respite fees only cover around 60% of the cost of running Leuchie House. Being a fundraising volunteer can be fun and varied. It involves giving up an hour or two of your time when you can spare it to raise our local profile and rally your community around fundraising. Full training and support is provided and your role will focus on activities you enjoy. Some ways you could help include:
- being the face of Leuchie in your community by handing out leaflets or placing collecting tins
- becoming a Leuchie Speaker to spread the word about Leuchie by giving talks to community organisations, businesses and schools
- become a treasure hunter and help source prizes for our raffles, auctions and events
We are looking for a volunteer to assist in the dining room with serving the evening meal, assisting guests where appropriate with eating and drinking and helping to ensure meal times are a pleasant and social time for all guests.
Duties and responsibilities would include:
- Assisting with serving drinks to guests prior to meal being served
- Offering guests a clothes protector if required
- Assisting to distribute meals from the meal trolley to guests
- Assisting an allocated guest with eating and drinking as directed
- Clearing dishes to trolley
- Offering tea and coffee to guests at the end of their meal
