Our Fundraising Groups extend our reach across the UK, building awareness of the charity and raising vital funds.
We're looking to develop our network of fundraising groups around the country, bringing together small groups of individuals who'd like to act as enthusiastic ambassadors for MDUK, raising awareness of muscle-wasting conditions. As a group member, you'll be working closely with MDUK staff and volunteers to raise the profile of MDUK in your community and organise local fundraising events.
Why volunteer? You'll meet new people, develop your teamwork, fundraising and communication skills, and you'll be doing something meaningful for people affected by muscle-wasting conditions in your local area.
As a Fundraising Group member, you will be:
Working with other members of the group to plan, organise and promote local events to raise funds and awareness
Collecting funds on behalf of the charity and distributing leaflets and merchandise to local supporters
Acting as an ambassador for MDUK in your local area, perhaps by giving presentations in your community.
Are you the friendly chatty type?
We are looking for someone to welcome our customers with a friendly smile and assist them with their visit. You will be the first point of contact for all our customers, providing a helpful, welcoming, and friendly greeting.
Our Front of House volunteers greet and engage with visitors, as well as helpful directions to our different facilities we have on offer.
You will have a vital role in helping to create a warm welcome for all our visitors to ensure that they have an interesting and enjoyable visit.
Volunteers are matched up on a one-to-one basis with a vulnerable adult. The matches meet regularly either weekly or fortnightly for a few hours at a time. The aim is to engage in purposeful activities within the community which will help to reduce social isolation and feelings of loneliness. It is also about continuing to support the adult to engage in their own community and have positive social connections.

Join our team of volunteer drivers! Volunteer drivers are needed to drive 15 seater mini bus on various outings with the Forres for older people/and/or people with disabilities. The more drivers means that the more the mini bus can be used! This is a flexible and much needed way to help the community and to help isolated folk who don't or cannot get an outing, to do so! Email jo@forresospreybus.co.uk if you'd like to join the volunteer driving team.
We need local volunteer drivers for our vehicles, to help the elderly and disabled get out and about. It might be a shopping trip, visit to family and friends, outings, transport to clubs/meetings, hospital visits and any other long or short journeys as required.
We give all our drivers MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training which is recognised throughout the UK as the standard course for volunteer drivers involved in community transport. Training includes loading and strapping in of wheelchairs.
Travel expenses are paid at 40p per mile.
The role will involve making sure each client is wearing a properly fitted riding hat. At the first and last lesson of each 12 week block there is also paperwork to be completed for each rider. We also need you to ensure that carers, parents and siblings are not patting/touching the horses at the mounting block as this is a very delicate part of the lesson.
The volunteers will be helping children and adults. They may be working with horses and ponies and there's lots of walking involved so it's an excellent way to keep fit.
