Are you a good listener with an empathetic, professional and methodical approach? Do you have two hours a week to support vulnerable adults with myalgic encephalomyelitis (M.E.)/chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)? Action for M.E.’s UK-wide advocacy service, expanding in Scotland, supports adults with M.E./CFS to understand their rights, make informed choices, and have their views and wishes heard and respected, dealing with issues including health, social care, housing and employment. You’ll work entirely online/by phone to meet and represent clients, agree an action plan, undertake research, contact professionals and more. Full training, support and supervision provided by our experienced, friendly team.
We need enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to look after or place boxes for us in shops, cafes, vets, pubs, hotels and leisure centres close to your home. You would also be required to bank the donations received.
The boxes need to be visited every month to refill with more badges and collect and bank the money.
We have a secure web-based system which allows you to keep a record of where your boxes are, report the cash you collect and order replacement badges and boxes. You will also have the support of a local team leader as well as dedicated office staff.
Could you place a box in your local shop, or have one on the reception desk at work?

The Adult Befriending Service in Orkney offers befriending support to people aged 60 years or over. Our aim is to keep older people in their own homes independently for longer and enhance the quality of life to members of the community who may be socially isolated.
Befrienders offer support by spending time with an older person, either in person or on the telephone. They can just have a chat, or share hobbies and interests, go out for a drive, or visit their local coffee shop for lunch, or a cuppa and a cake.
Befrienders only need to give around one hour of their time per week. Full training, support and expenses are provided.
Early intervention work with families needing support in times of crisis. We come alongside families with children aged 0-12 all across East Lothian and volunteers can choose whether to befriend or host or help with resources for families.
We exist to create relationship and connection because everyone deserves to belong.
No one should feel alone.
Urgent appeal for Volunteer Drivers
Please only call if you fit the following criteria:
· Up-to-date Disclosure / PVG Check
· Must have own car, as we need people who can start straight away
We have a very specific urgent appeal for Volunteer Drivers. We desperately need more volunteer drivers to take patients to their cancer treatment especially in the North Ayrshire area. Due to the Coronavirus social distancing guidelines we need many more drivers. We will reimburse travelling expenses for Volunteers.
Our Volunteer Drivers provide transport to and from cancer patient’s homes to hospitals in Glasgow and locally for cancer treatment. The service is especially useful for those who feel unwell after treatment, those living in rural areas, elderly patients and parents taking children for treatment. Your help is greatly appreciated in this time of need.
Volunteers aged 16 and over are needed to help run the Coastwatch Beach Pavilion in Irvine. This is an interesting and worthwhile volunteering opportunity. No qualifications or experience required.
Coastwatch is looking for volunteers aged 16 and over to help run the Beach Pavilion in Irvine. Your level of knowledge is immaterial. Our members have very different backgrounds and levels of knowledge, so whatever training you need to become a valued member of Coastwatch it will be geared to your experience (or lack of it). Instruction is available in any area of Coastwatch’s remit, be it watchkeeper or shopkeeper, or you might just want to volunteer to help run the charity. We have several retired volunteers who quite happily simply man the office for a few hours a week which helps keeps the Beach Pavilion open.
If you are an electrician, plumber, roofer, painter or mechanic you can help us too. If you have promotional or artistic skills, are a web designer, have nursing skills, are a teacher or an accountant - we would love to hear from you. All your skills will be useful to us. Any training you wish to undertake will be geared to your own choices from the available courses which include first aid, using a radio or map reading. You might want to help with the running of the shop which is an important source of income to the charity. The choice is yours.
After a settling in period, a training pack can be organised for you which will identify the skills you have, and those which you may wish to acquire. Not only will you learn how to approach new challenges in a competent and confident manner which are always useful when looking for paid employment, but other less obvious skills are always being learned through interaction with the public by using your first aid skills, patrolling the harbour or beach area, helping to organise events, or simply selling teas and coffees in our wee shop.
