Ideally you are enthusiastic, patient, have a sense of humour, good communication skills and experience of life. We are looking for people who can teach or pass on skills and tailor activities to small groups or individual interests. We are always looking for suggestions and activities that are fun and will add enjoyment to a supported person’s life.
Specific tasks:-
• Help organise and run fun and engaging activities for the people that we support in our services
• Supporting group sessions
• Participate in group activities and help the people we work with to identify personal interests, strengths, skills, and their own potential.
• Leading on activities
• Contribute ideas and attend planning meetings
• Demonstrating life skills to people receiving ongoing support or whose support could be heading towards a close e.g., encouraging them to cook a meal or bake, leading by example.
• Accompany small group outings where appropriate.
• Encouraging our supported people’s sense of belonging and connection
• Building our supported people’s confidence and self esteem

● Organising stock into boxes and onto shelves by product type
● Picking out stock that would be a good fit for the Reusables shop
● Creating a buffer stock area to help the retail team stock the shop
● Possibility of moving stock to and from the shop

Cycleworks aims to save bicycles from going to waste by repairing, fixing and restoring so they can be ridden once again!
What can I expect to learn and do in this role?
• Bicycle refurbishment including : bike ‘stripping’; brake and gear calibration; wheel repair and building; pedal care and repair
• How to set up a bicycle for a customer
• How to fully clean and maintain a bicycle
• How to check parts for wear and sort accordingly
• Maintain the workshop to a high standard of tidiness
This is a great opportunity if you are interested in going into mechanics or engineering to gain experience of a workshop environment.

Human trafficking is happening in all 32 local authorities in Scotland, on each of our doorsteps. Hidden and misunderstood, SOHTIS is committed to bringing freedom to victims and survivors of human trafficking across the country. The Trustee will provide direction for the Centre on a wide range of matters with due care and diligence. They will provide strategic overview in terms of purpose and delivery of services. They will develop forwarding planning systems which consider current and future factors which impact on services we provide. They will closely monitor and review external and internal factors which influence the need for services within South Ayrshire.
Accountability
The Trustee is accountable to the Board, contractual partners, regulatory bodies such as OSCR and Care Inspectorate.
Trustee’s manage the Centre effectively and regularly meet to oversee the activities and services provided by the Centre. They have a vital role in terms of setting and reviewing policies and procedures in consultation with all staff within the Centre and if appropriate partner agencies.
The Committee shall ensure that our Annual Report is completed, and our AGM is held within the timescales set out within the Constitution of the Centre.
Interest of the Charity
Trustees are expected to put the interest of the charity before their own interests or the interests of any other person or organisation. Applicants must be committed to the ethos/aims and objectives of the Centre.
Charitable Purpose
Trustee much ensure the charity is operating and fulfilling its charitable purpose as outlined within its constitution.

We meet usually once a month for about 2 hrs (7pm- 9pm) usually the 3rd Thursday of the month. We can offer a small payment to cover expenses. Some examples of our involvement are monthly meetings involving locally elected councillors, police and guest speakers. We regularly review local planning applications, local news/ concerns and organise community events such as beach cleans, seasonal town decorations/ events such as the summer bunting and Christmas Lights display/ switch on. We also support to facilitate local projects and collaborating with organisations to distribute community funds. There is opportunity to become involved in such a wide variety of projects/ groups dependant on your availability of time.
What is a Branch Secretary?
This is a key role involving administration and coordinating people. As the first point of contact for SSAFA in the area you will play a crucial part in promoting SSAFA locally, organising local events and ensuring the smooth running of SSAFA across the branch.
What would you be doing?
Managing the branch office (if applicable) and providing support to all volunteers, especially new ones
Work with the branch Chair, treasurer and others to ensure smooth running of the branch
Accepting referrals and coordinating SSAFA caseworkers, visitors and helpers accordingly
Oversee all SSAFA casework across the branch ensuring clients get support that is effective and timely
Monitor volunteer numbers against the demand for support and recruit new volunteers as needed
Working with the local training officer to ensure all volunteers are kept up to date with the training and information they need
Build relationships with regional and central office staff to ensure an effective flow of information
Maintaining accurate records of volunteers and cases, submit accurate data to Central Office
Providing administration for an annual programme of meetings including an AGM, recording and implementing decisions
Being a positive ambassador for SSAFA remembering that anyone you meet could be a potential client, volunteer or fundraiser
Volunteering within the standards and values of SSAFA including observing our policies such as the Volunteering policy and data protection policy (these will be covered in your training and local induction.)
