The Volunteer Befriender helps residents who feel isolated or unable to get out very easily on their own by giving time on a one to one basis to help a person maintain social contact, provide companionship and reduce loneliness and social isolation.
Volunteer befrienders build a positive relationship with an individual and visit them on a regular basis in their own flat. This could mean spending some time with a person for an hour or two every week/fortnight, we also encourage getting out and about for a coffee or short walk. Generally, befrienders are there to chat and get to know someone, have fun. Support the person to continue with existing interests, whilst encouraging them to embark on new activities.
If you are a trained counsellor and would like to help us please contact our Practice Manager, Caroline Mc Loughlin on 01324 630643 to discuss this.
Please note Practice Manager working pattern: Monday & Friday 9am – 5pm, Wednesday 9am – 12noon, there is an answer service on this number, please leave your name and contact telephone number if outwith PM's working pattern and we will get back to you.

With the cost of raising children growing every year, 3D Drumchapel are lending a helping hand. In response to our growing community, we have a large stock of quality new and pre-loved clothing and toys. We also have essential equipment and other items for new-borns and children up to 5 years old. These items are completely free for families who need them, and for clothing in particular we have a wide selection available.
Bairn Necessities project is dedicated to supporting families in need in Drumchapel, Knightswood & Yoker. Our aim is to save local families money by offering good quality children’s toys, clothing and equipment, free or at low cost. All of our items
are donated from the local community, businesses and other organisations. We accept referrals from families themselves, and professional bodies such as Health Visitors, Social Workers and community organisations.
In Volunteering for Bairn Necessities we will need to sort through donations, sorting them into age groups and types of clothing to be ready to be sent to the families in need. We will need you to process orders and make up the orders ready to go for delivery/collection and contacting the relevant person in regard to receiving their order.
