The KLSB Community Group (Keeping Larbert and Stenhousemuir Beautiful)
We hope that everyone has been enjoying the gardens and the floral arrangements in our Stenhousemuir and Larbert communities so far. As we come into early autumn we should start to consider preparing the gardens & tubs for the spring. There is still time to do that and as such we would like to invite the community to come together and join our already established team. This is much more than volunteering in the community, this is about being part of the community.
You do not have to be an experienced gardener or even have green fingers. We are simply looking for anyone who would like to come out on any day that suits them and work with our team. You will have a say on what goes in the ground, what and where our planters are placed and much more importantly, you will get to meet new people and make friends at our monthly meetings.
Our events volunteers would commit a couple hours every two weeks to the following activities
• Setting up and attending event meetings
• Facilitating and note taking
• Tidying up notes
• Event planning
• Eventbrite
• Delivering the event
• Emails prior & post (w evaluation google form survey) to attendees and reports
• Send recordings/pictures and reports
• Feedback forms

St Magnus Way are looking for a volunteer to help them manage their website and app.
The St Magnus Way is a 58-mile pilgrimage route through Mainland Orkney, inspired by the life and death of Magnus, Orkney’s patron saint. The St Magnus Way website provides pilgrims with routes, resources, news and events and the St Magnus Way app is a museum tour guide in your pocket! The app allows pilgrims to access resources relevant to their location whilst you walk.
Both the website and app are up and running, so you would be mainly maintaining these and adding and refreshing content. This would be a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain IT experience of website and app management, or for someone who has time to share their IT knowledge and skills.
We are developing a pioneering Scotland-wide path network for the benefit of all and we need volunteers in Orkney to help us. In Orkney you will be auditing data on existing paths or capturing new, currently un-mapped paths.
You will be:
-Participating in a short training workshop
-Working with the Ramblers Scotland team to gather or capture data on paths in Orkney.
-Audit data on existing paths or capture new, currently un-mapped paths.
-Accurately assessing local Orkney paths to best capture the type of information we’re looking for
-Providing feedback on the process to help inform the project going forward
We believe that everyone should be able access the outdoors in Scotland with confidence and there is great potential to improve the mapping of paths in Scotland, to help more people get active and healthy and to feel confident to explore our wonderful nature and landscapes.

Volunteers are needed to regularly walk a section of the St Magnus Way to check the route, clear litter and vegetation and possibly do some grass strimming.

You would be maintaining your section to keep it accessible and safe for users and you would be reporting any issues to the St Magnus Way committee to manage.
A great way to get outdoors, keep fit and enjoy the scenery and wildlife while conserving Orkney's long distance path for local walkers and visiting pilgrims.
