Grampian Child Bereavement Network (part of the ARCHIE Foundation charity) provide direct support to bereaved children and young people throughout Grampian. Due to an increased demand in our service we are seeking volunteers in a variety of areas including: responders to visit bereaved families, fundraisers, event and admin helpers and a treasurer Key objectives of our Volunteers are: To support the work of GCBN through contributing to the range of services provided. To make a positive difference to the lives of the children, young people and their families who have been affected by bereavement Our responder service entails people visiting bereaved families and undertaking direct support work with children and young people and their families. We also run event days for children staffed up by our volunteers. We are particularly keen to recruit a volunteer with a financial or accounts background to take on our treasurer role. Good support and training is provided to all volunteers e.g.: induction includes self awareness, policy and procedures of charity. Training in child protection and bereavement support. Support from coordinator and board of trustees. All help makes a difference and is greatly appreciated. It provides the opportunity to run games and activities, but with slightly less involvement than a full leader. An assistant leader attends (almost) every week to help with whatever the group is doing but if you are a do-er and give it a go-er please consider the Section Lead role. This may involve helping to plan and deliver our weekly meetings with the help of the other Section Assistants, Young Leaders, helping to keep a watchful eye on the Scouts while they’re on a hike away from HQ, or giving them amazing nights away and adventurous experiences away from our regular meeting place. You don’t need to be Bear Grylls, you don’t need to know how to put up a tent, and you don’t need to be with us every single week. To ensure our Scouts Troop continues, we need adults who are keen to try new things and to have fun to join our team of Leaders, to help us provide fantastic opportunities to local young people. Our Leaders are people just like you, but working together they make extraordinary things happen by providing a wide range of activities on a weekly basis. These activities are based around a programme of progressive learning and achievement, ultimately leading to the young person being awarded the Queens Scout Award / Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. We are open to boys and girls from all faiths, backgrounds and abilities, and welcome everyone. What do you have to do? We meet weekly & are looking for someone to join our team of Leaders. If you can't be there every week that's OK, we understand and welcome you when you can come. Perhaps you could help us plan some of our fantastic activities or day trips instead. As a Beaver Leader you would organise and lead the meetings. It sounds like a big job, but a number of our members are running sections as it plays to their strengths and they really enjoy it. We have helped to put on some of the best events and activities. It has a lot of rewards, so is certainly worth considering! We work with a great group of children from a range of backgrounds. We've got lots of plans for this year, and we'd love more people to get involved. You will be helping to provide exciting indoor, and some outdoor, activities for girls and boys aged 6-8 years old by following the Beaver Scout programme including games, skills and badge work. Also, preparing them to move onto the Cub Pack when the time comes. This is an exciting and varied position, that lets you get to the heart of Scouting activities in your community. Be prepared to make a difference! The Section Leader manages and leads the operation of the Section, in particular, the planning and safe delivery of the Balanced Programme with the help of assistants, including Assistant Section Leaders, Section Assistants and Young Leaders. The role will suit someone with strong leadership, communication and organisational skills, who holds the Scout values of integrity, respect, care and belief. The ability to work as part of a team and to motivate others is also important. This requires a weekly commitment during term time, occasional commitment during the week for planning meetings and attend the Executive Committee (meets 4 times a year) and occasionally at weekends for events like camps. This is a practical role leading a group of adults working as a team to support our youngest section, you may have experience of working with children or might be looking to gain some. You will be enthusiastic and willing to learn.
