Nitten Canaries is a brand new community singing group that meets in Newtongrange to sing for fun and enjoyment. Currently we have 6-7 members. We are expecting this to grow.
Whilst we are starting small, we are a happy, friendly group and greatly enjoy meeting to sing. At the moment the group does not intend to perform in public, but may be open to this further into the future.
The group name, 'Nitten Canaries', is reflective on Newtongrange Village's mining heritage and the shortform name by which the village is locally known. We would love to have a Musical Director who can help our group grow in confidence and ability and to have fun through singing.
Your role as Musical Director will be to direct the singers be open to the group's song choices and advise on what is manageable
We are currently looking for a youth worker for our P4 - P6 youth club. We run a wide variety of activities including sports, crafts, gaming and cooking. It is an exciting way to socialise, find and meet friends, and have fun. No experience is required but volunteers must be hard working, reliable and enjoy working with young people. The role will include the following:
- welcome and register young people to the session
- encourage and support participants during activities
- set up and clear spaces used for activities
Our After School Club is currently open to children who go to school in Douglas (Dundee). We need positive and enthusiastic people to help us make it happen.
Volunteers’ main tasks are:
• Befriend the children - the strength of relationships we build with the children is key to our success. We need committed people who love being around children, cope well under pressure and who have a good sense of fun.
• Support the musicians in sessions – volunteers make a huge difference by encouraging children to concentrate and join in. You will be a strong role model to support them to learn..
• Help with set up and tidying away – getting the right instruments and the right chairs in the right place…
• Supervise children on the walk from their school to the club – chat with children and ensure they arrive safely. Be with them during snack time, hearing about their day.
Summer months are coming to and end and its time for the pins to come out. Knitted and crochet items are needed to support the Moldova Appeal. Hats, scarves and gloves for men women and children and colours and style accepted
We can help out with patterns and wool if required
Becoming a gallery volunteer is an exciting opportunity to support the exhibitions at The Park Gallery, Callendar House and share your passion for the arts.
We’re inviting volunteers to help us engage our visitors with this special exhibition.
Artful is an exhibition which will feature work by contemporary artists from the local area, across Scotland and the UK. All work will be for sale and available to take away. It will provide an opportunity for our visitors to see and purchase new work of the highest standard.
Gallery volunteers will meet and greet visitors to this exhibition and provide informal tours or information about the artists and their work.
They will liaise with Callendar House shop staff to help visitors to the gallery purchase work form the exhibition.
As a volunteer you will add that extra spark to this exciting new exhibition and contribute to enhancing our visitors’ experience at Callendar House.
The role will involve:
•Interaction with visitors to the temporary exhibition spaces, providing information on the exhibition and the artists involved.
•Supervising work on display.
•Providing and sharing information about the exhibition, Callendar House and upcoming events/exhibitions.

Following a four-year refurbishment, David Livingstone Birthplace has opened our brand-new museum exhibition, shop, and café in July 2021. This is an exciting time to join us as we welcome visitors into the new museum for the 2022 season.
We are looking for enthusiastic Visitor Experience Volunteers to join our Visitor Experience team. This is a vital role in supporting the museum and interacting with the public as the face of the David Livingstone Birthplace. The Visitor Experience Volunteers will greet visitors and engage with them in a friendly and informative manner to ensure that they have an enjoyable experience.
We are particularly looking for Visitor Experience Volunteers that are excited about greeting visitors and selling tickets at the Welcome Desk. This is an important task as you will be the first point of contact for all visitors at the beginning of their journey around the museum. Full training will be given for Welcome Desk duties and volunteers will work closely with staff.
This exciting opportunity has become available for any volunteer who may have a skill they wish to share with the people we work with. This could include, Musical or dance skills, Arts and crafts, Storytelling, sport etc. Creating meaningful activities The role involves, Assisting staff to prepare for activities, Encouraging supported persons to participate in activities, Notifying staff of any issues or concerns, Attending regular support sessions, Undertaking Cornerstone Induction training, Contacting the Branch Coordinator if unable to attend as agreed.
Ayrshire Cancer Support exists to ensure that help is readily available for those who need it. In line with this mission Ayrshire Cancer Support seeks to involve volunteers to: ensure our services meet the needs of our clients; provide new skills and perspectives and increase our contact with the local community we serve. We need volunteers as Content Creators/Influencers for our social media.

Although this position is partly home based the volunteer must be able to visit the shop regularly to photograph/video the shop and the displays.

Our Outdoor Education Assistant role is varied and includes helping our experienced staff to deliver play, school, weekend events and birthday parties. It's a great opportunity to develop new outdoor learning and Play Ranger skills, including designing and delivering activities for all ages.
Opportunities exist for this role to also support other desk based developments around our wider education and training offer to communities, namely:
- Supporting the ongoing management of our School support packages.
- Supporting the development of our online teacher training/support products.
- Supporting development of a new‘membership’ package for schools.
- Supporting development and roll out online learning packages related to school groups, uniformed organisations, and families.
Located near Tentsmuir Nature Reserve and Beach, The Larick Centre provides a community space for the residents of Tayport and visitors to meet, socialise and enjoy a variety of activities and events, including their cafe. You can also find information on local events and activities around Tayport, including local walking trails and paths.
The centre is open all weekend, 10am-4pm, offering rooms for booking, café and toilets.
Volunteer receptionists are needed to provide a warm welcome and basic information regarding the centre. Shifts will be 2 hours minimum per week or fortnight (more if you wish) and would suit people who enjoy meeting the public and sharing information about the local area. Training will be given and travel expenses reimbursed.
