Headway North Lanarkshire exists to provide support, information and referrals for people with an acquired brain injury. We aim to reduce social isolation increase access to information and referral information and empower people with an ABI to have more control over their lives. Share your Passion & Make a Difference! We want to make sure that everyone affected by cancer has access to appropriate physical activity opportunities and we need your help to achieve this. We are looking for volunteers to lead our Gentle Movement classes for people affected by cancer.
Leading an EASY MOVERS class for people affected by cancer and other chronic illnesses will include
• Meeting and greeting participants, providing a warm welcome to the class
• Supporting people on a one to one basis, depending on their individual needs
• Ensuring basic paperwork is completed/collected for each class
• Signposting participants to Cancer Information and Support Services (CISS) where appropriate
• Attending volunteer development sessions to keep informed and up to date
• Full Training Given. No experience required.
These volunteers support hospital staff to minimise the numbers of people accessing the acute hospitals sites. They carry out a range of duties to support this including sanitising, face coverings and pharmacy pick up.
Provide directions to patients and visitors in the acute hospitals
Escort patients and visitors to departments, where appropriate
Show patients and visitors where they will be able to find wheelchairs (however we would not expect you to push patients or visitors in those wheelchairs)
Encourage physical distancing for those who are visiting the hospital environment, directing them to use the hand sanitizer and give out surgical masks as appropriate.
Collect discharge prescriptions for patients
Collect changes of clothes from relatives at front door to be delivered to wards for inpatients meaning that the relatives don’t need to go into the wards
Full Personal Protective Equipment provided and volunteers in this role will be designated as frontline healthcare workers for the purposes of COVID vaccine
A polo shirt will also be provided as uniform and volunteers will be given the option of taking Lateral Flow Tests.
These volunteers support the activity at COVID Vaccination Centres within Lanarkshire.
Provide directions to patients accessing the centre once they have been clerked in by administrative staff
Encourage physical distancing for those who are visiting the vaccination centre, directing them to use the hand sanitizer and give out surgical masks as appropriate.
Observation of the post vaccine waiting area and alerting a senior member of staff if people are unwell post vaccination
Volunteers will be expected to do one shift a week and will have a member of staff to report to at the beginning of each shift.
Full Personal Protective Equipment and Uniforms will be provided.
Volunteers required to deliver leaflets to advertise the services being offered by NCT during COVID. Also future help to develop this organisation as it moves towards Development Trust status, promote the services offered; the function spaces available for community, private and commercial hire and events, the enterprise cafe and catering services together with promotion and engagement of community groups, within the charity owned and run community centre. Volunteers will be working alongside NCT centre staff, and service users who are attending the centre for groups, drop in cafe and events. An ability to bring experience of marketing within the service and community sector would be useful however not essential as there are a range of multi level opportunities from strategic management to daily social media coordination and public relations.

As a Community Climate Champion, you will receive free, accredited training and other support to enable you to facilitate “climate conversations” in your local area; for specific interest groups; and/or for your organisation.
The Community Climate Champion initiative is supported by Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) as part of our commitment to North Lanarkshire’s Action on Climate Together initiative – ACT Now NL.

Receive free, online climate emergency training from Keep Scotland Beautiful.
This introductory training will raise understanding of climate change science and how you can use your actions and influence to respond to the climate emergency and contribute to Scotland’s journey to net-zero. The training will include an introduction to climate change and cover topics like climate impacts and adaptation, reducing emissions, climate action and communication.
The course will be accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project, and participants who successfully complete the two 2.5-hour sessions, guided self-study and final assessment can receive Carbon Literate certification.
We have received funding from the Scottish Government to offer 30-40 free spaces for this training during April and May 2022 in three small groups.
We will be publishing the course dates shortly, so if you are interested, please fill in the registration form below and we will contact you in early April with the course date options.
You will also be invited to participate in one or more of our free, community climate awareness and action workshops during 2022-23, which will provide you with more in-depth understanding of key issues such as:
active travel and community transport
community greening – including conservation, community woodlands
renewable, affordable energy, including support for households and community energy schemes
community food growing and larders
community lending and upcycling schemes.

You will have access to a wide range of information through the ACT Now NL website
VANL staff will provide further guidance and support as needed
You will also become part of a North Lanarkshire Community Climate Champions network where volunteers can connect and support each other.
Your role: As a volunteer Community Climate Champion in North Lanarkshire, you will be supported through above to facilitate “Climate Conversations“and action with one or more of the following groups of people:
residents in your local area
people with specific interests such as carers; disabled people and faith groups
people in your organisation and/or work-related networks

Volunteers for Doorstep Testing Kit Delivery and Collection
Volunteers are required to deliver test kits to individual households, collect them when ready and take them to a local centre. Volunteers should be physically fit and active and ideally will have had one vaccination, if not both.
