We have social groups providing activities or sometimes just a friendly environment for people with a visual impairment to come along and have a cuppa & blether. We're always open to suggestions for new activities. Volunteers would be welcome - to make tea and serve refreshments, to organise and run the activity, guide participants and to chat and generally keep things going.

For the people they help, our volunteer drivers provide a friendly face to brighten their day and help get them to where they need to be. Our drivers can become a regular part of someone’s life and it may be the only chance an RNIB customer has had to get out of their home for some time. If you are friendly, courteous and reliable then this is the opportunity for you. We are particularly looking for drivers in Glasgow and Ayr.

Are you a good listener? Are you able to manage group conversations and ensure people feel comfortable together and that groups run smoothly? We need you to facilitate our Talk and Support weekly telephone groups that offer blind and partially sighted people the opportunity to socialise with others when the regular group facilitator is unavailable.
This is a telephone-based role that you can do from home. You will need access to a landline and/or mobile phone We ask you to commit to covering up to 3 groups per week, although this will vary on a week by week basis. Each group you cover will last for one hour.
Listening to group conversations, ensuring they flow and are appropriate. Making appropriate contributions. Creating friendly & welcoming atmosphere. Being link between the group & Talk & Support team. Reporting safeguarding concerns.
Do you enjoy speaking to people and working with computers? Are you organised? You could support our Talk and Support team to run our award winning befriending groups by matching blind and partially sighted people from our waiting list into our telephone befriending groups. You would be helping people to get into one of our groups as quickly as possible and helping to end the isolation of sight loss.
We are looking for someone who is available one day each week, preferably on a Monday or Tuesday, who is comfortable using computers and computer based telephony systems and who is familiar with Microsoft Office 365.

Join our community of amazing volunteer Sooty box collectors and help us to provide blind and partially sighted people with the support they need at this uncertain time.
RNIB urgently need volunteers to collect and bank donations received through our Sooty boxes, which play a vital role in generating income and raising our profile in local communities. This role is completely flexible, can be performed by individuals, pairs or groups and the time you dedicate to it is entirely up to you and your commitments. You can give your time as little or as often as you like!
This flexible opportunity puts you at the heart of supporting blind and partially sighted people. You could help with:
* sighted guiding / giving practical help to individuals so they can take part in events;
* supporting volunteers with sight loss with their volunteering activities;
* awareness-raising and campaigning on issues that affect those living with little or no sight;
* fundraising so we can continue to offer our amazing services and tackle social injustice.
Whether its cheering at a challenge event, helping at an information stand or store collection, guiding guests at an event, or something else, you can choose to get involved based on your availability and interests.
Our amazing Community Volunteers play a key role in connecting blind and partially sighted people, awareness-raising, tackling barriers to independence and fundraising for our work.
Depending on your availability, training and interests, you will have the chance to take part in some or all of the following:
• help run events and regular groups
• give talks about sight loss, eye health, the work of RNIB and partners
• help with local campaigns
• organise fundraising events like store collections
• attend information stalls and cheque presentations, and
• make wellbeing calls to community members.

We need you to facilitate our weekly befriending telephone groups that offer blind and partially sighted people the opportunity to socialise with others. You will connect our groups together and contribute to groups to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and that group conversations run smoothly.
This is a telephone-based role that you can do from home. You will need access to a computer, an internet connection and good IT skills. We ask you to commit to facilitating 3 or more groups per week which will be at the same day and time each week. Groups run for an hour a week.
