Community Fundraising in CHAS has five key income streams and engagement volunteers help fundraisers raise more money by using their own interests, contacts and networks.
Whatever your background, knowledge and interests you can help by volunteering in your own community raising money through the things that you enjoy.
What activities will I be involved in?
- Researching areas of potential fundraising
- Using your own networks to promote CHAS
- Bringing your own skills and interests to the role
- Making approaches and developing fundraising leads
- Updating Raisers Edge, the CHAS fundraising database
- Representing CHAS
How much time should I offer?
Flexible time commitment - you can volunteer on any day of the week in the morning, afternoon or evening.
Where is the opportunity based?
In your own community and supporting your local fundraiser at their office. We have five fundraising offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Kinross and Aberdeen

Fundraising groups are the local face of CHAS in the community. We are looking for volunteers to join our fundraising groups across Scotland. The groups plan and deliver events and activities in the local community to raise vital funds for CHAS.
You can either join your local group or if there is no group in your local area we will support you to set up your own group.
The aim of the role is to work within a group to plan and deliver fundraising events to raise money to support children with a life-shortening condition across Scotland.
What activities will I be involved in?
- Planning, organising and promoting fundraising events and collections with other group members
- Representing CHAS at community events and raising awareness
- Banking money raised and potentially keeping the records of the group’s accounts
- Acting as an ambassador for CHAS by building community networks
- Attending group meetings

Anywhere in Scotland – in your local community.

About the survey
The Youth Leadership Panel want to hear from young people from across Scotland about your experiences with the Guarantee, and other employability opportunities. This will help them input into the governance and decision-making of the Guarantee at a national level, helping to ensure the Guarantee meets the needs of all young people in Scotland.
Do you have a couple of hours spare to help young people in your local community? We are looking for volunteers to support the operation of the Eaglesham Scout troop (age 10 – 14) in delivering our programme of activities. We provide young people with exciting and challenging experiences and then help them use those experiences in their personal and social development. The level of your involvement is entirely up to you and could vary from helping out for a couple of hours each week at the local Scout Hall to participation in outdoor weekend events & challenges.
Do you have a couple of hours spare to help young people in your local community? There are waiting lists for girls to join Units in the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows because they need more adult volunteers throughout Scotland.
Leaders can participate in a whole host of activities and times are flexible, so you can give as little or as much as you like. Most Units meet once a week during term-time. There are loads of other opportunities for you to get involved in during the holidays of weekends, if you wish.
Girls and Young women today participate in a wide-range of activities such as DJ-ing, water sports, singing, dancing, arts & crafts and much more.
Unit Leaders are given training both 'on the job and through training sessions. Specificaly looking for mature leaders.

You’ll be part of a team that support and manages local volunteer Children’s Panel Members. You will also make sure that the views of young people are heard and acted upon within your area.
You’ll be enthusiastic and committed to securing the rights of children and young people; able to lead and be part of teams; a strong communicator. You’ll also be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of the ethos, values and principles of the children's hearings system. As an AST member, you will be appointed for an initial three year period with the possibility of extending this.
Depute Area Conveners support the local Area Convener, Deputes help manage a team of volunteers, working with local partners and engaging with Panel Members. We need strong communicators who are enthusiastic and committed to securing the rights of children and young people.
Forfar Open Gardens are looking for Volunteer Gardeners to provide general help within the garden whether that be pottering in the outdoor or indoor planting areas, clearing and pruning in the large woodland space or any of the many jobs in between. The garden is an open space for people young and old to come along and enjoy so you have a keen interest in gardening or would like to learn then they would love to hear from you.
Youth opportunities are available on Friday afternoons.

We’re looking for volunteer befrienders in Edinburgh to help support vulnerable young people to achieve personal goals, increase their confidence and build their positive social networks.
Move On works to prevent homelessness and to support people affected by homelessness. By working alongside individuals, Move On enables them to develop the skills and tools they need to reach their own long-term solutions, leading towards a positive future.
Move On works with LinkLiving to provide a befriending programme to young people in Edinburgh. Befriending volunteers provide invaluable support to young people aged 16-25 who are making the transition from housing support to fully independent living and managing their own tenancy. Befrienders provide emotional and social support in a variety of ways, establishing links with their local community and meeting individualised goals.
