Vision PK provides local groups for people with visual and hearing impairments, giving them the opportunity to meet others, share experiences, socialise, and take part in activities. As the Volunteer Activities Assistant, you will help us organise and facilitate activities for our members. Our activities include social groups, dominoes club, information talks and a swimming class. Each role will have specific requirements which will be geared towards enabling our participants. We hope to match people interested in volunteering with us to support the activity or group which best suits their interest.

Our volunteers help us to keep things going. Most meetings take place on Tuesdays afternoon between 12.30 and 2.30pm. You could be involved with groups: planning, escorting participants, preparing and serving refreshment, helping organise and facilitate activities, making sure participants can enjoy activities safely and offering assistance where needed.

The Macular Society is the UK's leading charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world-class research, and the best advice and support. Macular disease causes sight loss, for example when reading, looking at photos or watching television and affects mainly older people. The groups provide information, support and new friendships to those with macular disease, along with their family and friends. Whether you can spare a few hours or a couple of days a week, you’ll be doing something great to help. By giving your time, you will help the society to reach the thousands of people living with macular disease and sight loss in your area and provide life-changing support. You will be volunteering as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the group. Tasks shared by volunteers may include: -Welcoming members and guests, sharing information, wrapping things up at the end. -Organising guest speakers and suggesting social activities. -Keeping in touch with group members, maintaining a list of members and sharing updates with head office. -Collecting meeting subs. -Setting out the chairs, serving tea and coffee

Role at a Glance: As an Events Volunteer, you'll be at the forefront of generating vital funds to support our Veterans. You don't need prior experience; our training program will support you every step of the way. All across the country Guide Dogs work tirelessly to ensure that the service user comes first and we are enabled to do that through the hard work and dedication of our Fundraising groups spread across the UK. In 2023 a fundraiser doesn't have to be jingling a bucket outside of a local supermarket but instead be raising money for the cause they believe in, from their very own home. During COVID we uncovered many new ways to fundraise and it allowed our volunteers to unlock lost/new talents and it is a mindset we have kept going! With full training provided along with uniform, expenses paid and a key contact at Guide Dogs, you can truly make the role your own and become a valuable member of the Guide Dogs family.
