Some examples of our involvement are monthly meetings involving locally elected councillors, police and guest speakers. We regularly review local planning applications, local news/ concerns and organise community events such as beach cleans, seasonal town decorations/ events such as the summer bunting and Christmas Lights display/ switch on. We also support to facilitate local projects and collaborating with organisations to distribute community funds. There is opportunity to become involved in such a wide variety of projects/ groups dependant on your availability of time.

However experience or specific skill set is not needed as we will provide training to volunteers. If you are interested or would like to find out more please get in touch.
There is opportunity to become involved in such a wide variety of projects/ groups dependant on your availability of time. We would love support to reach our community more. Perhaps you have skills / interest in social media use or website development. Support once a month with minute taking would aid our volunteer group also. All options provide an insight into the wider activity within the community and support development of skills and experience.

The Species on the Edge Youth Panel will bring together 14 young people between the ages of 16 & 25 from across the Species on the Edge project areas to discuss issues relating to the natural environment and their communities. Would you like to volunteer with us during the school holidays? We require young people to work on the farm, welcome visitors to the site and support delivery of our October holiday event programme. This work will be varied and include looking after the animals, litter picking, giving directions to visitors, signing in visitors to events, helping with woodwork preparation for events, maintaining our nature reserve and general preparation for events. We require help all 16 days from the 30th September. We appreciate that young people will have family commitments and wish to spend time with friends so there will be no particular work pattern required.
There will be an element of training required so we would hope that any new young person to Murton can attend for at least 4 days over the 2 week period. Placement will be 10.00am to 4.00pm, although for those that are reliant on public transport, we may be able to make allowances. Young people will receive a t-shirt, a free lunch and snack for each day they are with us.
We are keen to support as many individuals as possible that will benefit the most from being with us, particularly those from Forfar and Kirriemuir where transport is likely to be easier.
If you would like to join us during the holidays, we require the attached online form https://forms.office.com/e/ij9Y73c5Zu be completed as soon as possible, preferably by Friday 22nd September. Late applications may still be considered if spaces are available. If you require support with the online form, please contact murtontrust@murtontrust.org.uk for more information. We will then contact all young people between the 25th and 27th September to confirm final details of the programme.
