What Ambassadors Do – Main Tasks and activities - Representing Pain Concern in a professional manner - Build a network with local GP surgeries, NHS health board. - Pain Concern already attend Pain Management groups, to highlight long term support options available to graduates once their pain management programme has ended. Continuing this work will be a key part of this role. - Making conversation with members of the public as appropriate, and answering questions about the charity’s work. - Signpost to helpline, Pain Concern information leaflets, Airing Pain etc - Carry out research into community groups, local events and businesses in your area, so that you can contact them to attend fayres, exhibitions etc - Have personal experience of chronic pain (e.g., a diagnosis or experience of supporting a family member or friend). - Attend cheque presentations and local events officially thanking donors and hosts for their support - Adhere to Pain Concern’s policies and procedures at all times, including Safeguarding; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Health & Safety; Data Protection; Confidentiality; - Attend training and volunteer meetings - Keep your Volunteer Manager up to date on your activities, including the contacts you’ve made and talks that you’ve arranged.

"Scout Sections meet once weekly and sometimes with weekend outdoor activities. We need leaders who are enthusiastic to work with children and pass on skills and expertise in a safe environment for the benefit of young people. Fun and games can be part of the programme but our members undertake 'badge work' which involves learning about a wide variety of new subjects. If you can offer some of your time in assisting youth learning, then we would be very pleased to hear from you. Activities can range from sailing/ canoeing, mountaineering, archery, camping, wildlife and nature and a range of indoor and more domestic skills which might start with cooking for a group or simply learning to tie knots. All our staff are volunteers and there are some relatively simple training modules which all leaders require to undertake and which ensure a high level of safety awareness when dealing with young people. If you are up for a 'challenge' then we'd love to hear from you!"

As a community volunteer, you will: • reach out to community groups, other charities, etc. to offer informative presentations or attend meetings to share insight into deafness, hearing loss and tinnitus • deliver talks, presentations online and face-to-face (depending on practicality) • set up RNID Information stands at various locations, including libraries, community centres and hospitals within your local area • ensure leaflets and equipment arrive at the venue in time, and pack up at the end of the event • promote the work of RNID and associated local services • respond to questions and enquiries from visitors and assist as appropriate • record any enquires that are out of your knowledge base and follow up accordingly • monitor the number of enquiries at each event and feedback in a timely manner • be proactive in sourcing venues for information stands. As an RNID volunteer, you will: • make a real difference to the people you support • help us run this important service • receive training and learn new skills • meet people in different situations • raise awareness of deafness in the community • have reasonable, out-of-pocket and pre-approved travel expenses repaid.

Provide support to NHS hearing aid users at our hearing aid maintenance clinics, helping with basic maintenance and support of hearing aids. As a hearing aid support volunteer, you will: • undertake basic maintenance on hearing aids, cleaning or changing tubing and replacing batteries • offer practical support to optimise hearing aids • signpost other agencies that may be beneficial to the service user • monitor the number of visits to drop-in service and feedback to the Project Co-ordinator • Meet with other RNID volunteers and staff to discuss the project and suggest any improvements. Full training will be provided by NHS Shetland audiology dept, with ongoing support provided by locally based project co-ordinator.
