Midlothian Scouts currently do not have a District Secretary and we need one! We need your help to volunteer
to become an Executive member. Do you have good administration skills? Would you prefer to support more
‘behind the scenes’? Can you help keep our records in order?
You will play a key role by leading the administrative work for Midlothian Scouts. No previous secretarial
experience is needed, we just need someone who is good at admin and keeping records. This is an exciting central
which could take about 2 hours or so per month only!
This is your chance to be extraordinary and help in a flexible way! Joining our committee is not as posh as it

sounds but we do like to have fun.

The Secretary will support the Chair of the Executive Committee to ensure the smooth functioning and sound administration of the Scout Group for instance. · Provide administrative support to the running of the Executive Committee. · Work with the Chair of the Executive Committee to set meeting agendas and arrange meeting logistics for the Executive Committee. · Communicating with the Executive Committee and relevant Scout Council. · Preparing the appropriate administration for the Annual General Meeting, including collating the Annual. · Report and Accounts for the Annual General Meeting. · And more Though ‘Executive’ sounds a bit formal, it is not like that at all! We are a relaxed group of like-minded individuals! This role is ideal for those who do not necessarily wish to work directly with young people but would like to help to support and develop Scouting a couple of hours or so a month.

Organisation aims and objectives

South East Scotland Scouts prepares young people with skills for life - helping them speak up and play their part. Each week we give over 6,000 young people aged 6 to 25 the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge, and the big dreams: the skills they need for life across South East Scotland. By 2023 Scouts will have prepared more young people with skills for life, supported by amazing leaders delivering an inspiring programme. We will be growing, more inclusive, shaped by young people and making a bigger impact in our communities. They are looking for Cooks who can prepare simple cooked lunches for groups between 5 and 15 people. Groups meet once or twice a week but there is no need to commit to both days. Groups run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch served at 12 noon; the cook can start at a suitable time to achieve this, finishing when clearing up has finished. Each venue has a good size and well-equipped kitchen. Lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

Social Group Assistant

How can you have fun, gain confidence and help others at the same time? By becoming a social group assistant with Express Group Fife! Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for almost 50 years. They provide social group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for a Social Group Assistants for their groups listed below. Activities involved: setting up the hall (tables and chairs, but not at every location), socialising with service users, serving tea/coffee, taking part/assisting in activities (e.g. board games, bingo, crafts). There is always a Group Coordinator facilitating the group and very often also a Case Worker who can work individually with service users when needed. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

Committee Member
  • ENeRGI (East Neuk Recovery Group Initiative)
ENeRGI SCIO is a mental health charity based in the East Neuk of Fife. Volunteers are needed to join its committee. You will be responsible for governing the charity, helping to shape policy and its vision for the future. ENeRGI is a SCIO registered charity established since 1995. Committee Members are asked to attend Committee Meetings, which take place once every two months, and usually last 1 hour to 90 minutes, and the ENeRGI Annual General Meetings, usually held in December. Committee roles available or you can remain as an ordinary trustee with just attendance and input expected. This is an opportunity to gain new skills and contribute to a great community project. Interested parties over the age of 16 are welcome to apply.
