Description

The Allotment Market Stall provides good-quality, well-priced, locally grown fruit and vegetables and reduces waste. We have opportunities this season for volunteers to be a part of developing our nature friendly market garden, based at Grove Nursery, Hazlehead, Aberdeen, AB15 8LD on Thursdays 1-3pm and/or Saturdays 11am-1pm. This provides the opportunity to:

• Join in with the cultivation of a nature friendly market garden
• Would suit someone who enjoys outdoors and nature and wants to be part of a community project promoting local food growing.

-Main tasks involve:
• Help make and plant up our no dig beds.
• Sowing seeds and looking after them.
• Planting and tending fruit and veg.
• Garden maintenance and DIY.

Full training will be given. Volunteers will be accompanied and supported at all times.

• Make a difference in your city and the environment.
• Be a part of a community of growers.
• Learn gardening skills.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Allotment Market Stall (TAMS) is a community project collecting and selling excess allotment produce. TAMS connects local home growers with the community, offering allotment holders a platform to sell surplus produce. We provide locals with access to fresh, community-grown food, supporting sustainable, neighborhood-driven food networks. Whether people are a grower or a buyer, TAMS makes it easy to enjoy and share fresh, seasonal produce, making a real difference for people and communities.

Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for almost 50 years. They provide social group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for Cooks who can prepare simple cooked lunches for groups between 5 and 15 people. Groups meet once or twice a week but there is no need to commit to both days. Groups run from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm with lunch served at 12 noon; the cook can start at a suitable time to achieve this, finishing when clearing up has finished. Each venue has a good size and well-equipped kitchen. Lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

Social Group Assistant

How can you have fun, gain confidence and help others at the same time? By becoming a social group assistant with Express Group Fife! Express Group Fife is a mental health charity, operating in Fife for almost 50 years. They provide social group activities and engage with people over 18 experiencing poor mental health. They are looking for a Social Group Assistants for their groups listed below. Activities involved: setting up the hall (tables and chairs, but not at every location), socialising with service users, serving tea/coffee, taking part/assisting in activities (e.g. board games, bingo, crafts). There is always a Group Coordinator facilitating the group and very often also a Case Worker who can work individually with service users when needed. Time: 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, lunch provided, travel expenses reimbursed, free parking at all venues. A Volunteer from Central Fife said - I really enjoyed volunteering here over past 10 months, it will be sad to leave, it's been a very meaningful experience, and I have learnt a lot.

  • ENeRGI (East Neuk Recovery Group Initiative)
ENeRGI SCIO is a mental health charity based in the East Neuk of Fife. Volunteers are needed to join its committee. You will be responsible for governing the charity, helping to shape policy and its vision for the future. ENeRGI is a SCIO registered charity established since 1995. Committee Members are asked to attend Committee Meetings, which take place once every two months, and usually last 1 hour to 90 minutes, and the ENeRGI Annual General Meetings, usually held in December. Committee roles available or you can remain as an ordinary trustee with just attendance and input expected. This is an opportunity to gain new skills and contribute to a great community project. Interested parties over the age of 16 are welcome to apply.
