Weekly support to young people aged 13 - 18 years. These young people will have difficulties affected by substance use. Mentoring can offer a reliable adult to help them explore their problems, develop confidence and help them to get more out of their local community.
Mentoring involves taking a young person out once a week for around 2 hours each. Each mentor will be involved with two young people a week. The mentoring match is given a small budget to cover activity and transport costs. Mentoring will have no cost to the volunteer or young person. A mentor will support a hobby or interest which the young person already has or would like to try in or outwith their local community. Mentoring may involve small pieces of work tailored to the individual needs.
We request you attend: induction training, some future training to expand/develop your skills, support meetings and supervision with the mentoring co-ordinator and will be invited to volunteer support gatherings.
