More than just a Museum, the Gordon Highlanders Museum offers first-rate conference facilities. Do you have the skills or willing the learn to help at conferences?

The Gordon Highlanders Museum is committed to preserving and sharing the legacy of the world famous Gordon Highlanders Regiment for future generations. A Gordon Highlanders Museum Guide brings to life the extraordinary 200 year story of ‘The Finest Regiment in the World’. (Sir Winston Churchill 1900).

A Hospitality Volunteer makes and serves tea and coffee at breaks, helps with food and drink preparation, serving at lunch time and clearing and cleaning of crockery and cutlery.

Organisation aims and objectives

At the Gordon Highlanders Museum we are committed to preserving and sharing the legacy of the world famous Gordon Highlanders for future generations. Based in the heart of north east Scotland, in the beautiful former home of prominent Scottish artist, Sir George Reid, the museum is constantly evolving. We aim to provide a wide range of unique experiences for all our visitors. We are thrilled to be a recipient of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service-the equivalent of an MBE for volunteering in recognition of our support and commitment to volunteers and the difference volunteers make.

Experience required: -A welcoming and attentive manner -Flexibility and willing to volunteer as part of a team -Previous experience is a bonus but a willingness to learn is essential.
Travel details: The Gordon Highlanders Museum, St Lukes, Viewfield Road, Aberdeen, AB15 7XH The Gordon Highlanders Museum is situated in the West End of Aberdeen on the X17 and No 11 bus route. On site car parking is available.

You can get extra training like First Aid, and the disclosure check for working with children is paid for by us and we’ll help you every step of the way. Food Train is an award winning charity providing services to older people who are no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty or disability. Volunteer Shoppers work in our partner supermarket, Morrisons Anchor Mills, to make up the customers’ orders for delivery. Working as part of team in store each morning the volunteer role includes: •Making up and checking customers shopping orders from shopping lists provided •Packing boxes ensuring safe weight distribution •Putting customers’ orders through the till •Paying for the shopping using Food Train funds and completing necessary paperwork •Reporting any matters of concern to Food Train staff •Informing Food Train Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints •Maintaining confidentiality •Representing Food Train in a professional manner to customers and the wider community.

  • North East Eating Disorders Support (Scotland)
NEEDS - North East Eating Disorder Support (Scotland) is looking for volunteer facilitators, 1 evening per month, for our monthly support group meeting for those who are suffering from an eating disorder, as well as for our carers who are supporting someone with an eating disorder, either in person or from a distance (e.g., a family member at university or living elsewhere). Have you suffered from an eating disorder and been fully recovered for at least 2 years, or have you had experience of caring for a family member or friend who has suffered from an eating disorder and who is now fully recovered or who is still suffering from an eating disorder having had it for several years? If the answer is yes, are you someone who can and is willing to support others in this journey, who can always observe confidentiality, be empathetic, kind, and non-judgemental, be a good listener, be sensitive to those who are not yet able to share, and who can demonstrate the value of self-care. Volunteers should be aware that their social media profiles may be examined to ensure that these are compatible with the aims of our charity. Meetings are held on the 1st Monday of each month 7.30-9.00pm at The Macrobin Centre, Royal Cornhill, Hospital. All help makes a real difference and is greatly appreciated.
