Theatre Scotland is currently looking for reviewers across Scotland to assist in maximizing our website’s coverage.
Theatre Scotland is a theatre review site covering theatre made in and visiting Scotland. We were first established in September 2019, initially covering theatre in Edinburgh and since then we have expanded to covering the West and North of Scotland. We are hoping to continue expanding our site with the ongoing demand from theatres, companies and artists across the country.
About the role of Reviewer-
As a Theatre Scotland Reviewer, you would cover professional and amateur productions in your local area. This can be arranged through your own contacts or we will utilize our links to provide you reviewing opportunities. All reviews must be posted within 24 hours of seeing the production, this can either be posted by the reviewer directly to our site or via one of our editors. Every reviewer’s content will be promoted onto our social platforms and may be utilized by the reviewed production for marketing content.
This is a casual and unpaid role – due to the nature of the theatre industry we are not able to guarantee reviews weekly and our company currently operates as a non-profit organization. What we can offer is complimentary tickets, the opportunity to see a versatile range of theatre, and also a platform for your voice to be heard. We especially would love to hear from reviewers with an interest in participating in multimedia content.
Theatre Scotland is a review site specialising in covering theatre made in and visiting Scotland. Our mission since being established in 2019 has been giving fair criticism from the scope of critics who have experience creating and performing. Our team comprises of people of various backgrounds, including artists who are either still active or have previously worked within the Scottish theatre industry. With their love of theatre and unique experiences, they have a level of understanding which helps not only resonate with the performers and creatives, but also the audiences who watch the shows we cover. We continue to adapt with the moving times, aiming to be a supportive and collaborative platform. We actively want to be a positive force within the Scottish theatre industry. While being open to supporting the arts community, we also campaign for equality, diversity and for people’s voices to be heard.
This position is flexible and reviewers will only be needed when there is productions to review in their area, this can be through them booking with their links or editors sending opportunities for reviews.
Experience required: Good understanding of theatre. Knowledge of theatre terminology and practise.
Travel details: Volunteers must be able to travel to the respected theatres in their area.
Minimum age: 18
Expenses details: Theatre Scotland are unable to pay for any expenses however will be able to offer complimentary tickets for the shows you review.
