Welcoming, Connecting, and Supporting Families and Visitors is at the core of what we do here at the Croft!
Providing practical and emotional support, information, and advice to the families impacted by a loved one’s imprisonment at HMP Barlinnie to help make their visiting experience the best it can be under the circumstances.
Our volunteers are a massively important part of our team at the Croft and we are so thankful for the time they dedicate to us. The role of a volunteer can be varied or specific and we want to work with you to find the role that suits you best
We are looking for a male volunteer to support our Addictions Outreach Worker to deliver groups within the local community. Ideally, the volunteer would have lived experience in this area as the individual's experience is recognized as a valuable asset to those being supported. The role would include:
. Providing a warm welcome to group members
. Providing information, advice, and emotional/practical support
. Helping to set up and facilitate the session
. Providing light refreshments
This would suit someone with lived experience who is reliable and a good communicator with a non-judgemental approach. This opportunity will also provide the volunteer with experience and skills to enhance their CV and give an insight into the Criminal Justice System.
Full induction will be provided for the role with ongoing support meetings.

Experience required: Lived experience, any additional training will be provided.
We’re looking for reliable, empathetic individuals with good communication and listening skills, a non-judgmental approach, and the ability to work well in a team. Lived experience with addiction or similar challenges is highly valued but not essential. Volunteers should be adaptable, emotionally resilient, and sensitive to diverse backgrounds, with basic practical skills to help set up and support group sessions.
