Would you like to become a mental health peer support volunteer, and support people to improve their mental health and wellbeing?
We are looking for 1:1 volunteers who identify as having had lived experience of mental health difficulties and have an awareness of their own recovery journey.
Health in Mind’s Peer Connecting Service (PCS) supports adults aged 18+ who want to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
As a 1-1 Peer Support Volunteer for Health in Mind, you will support someone on a one-to-one basis for six months for 1-2 hours per week. During this time, you will work with them to understand how they are feeling and to explore what steps they can take to make positive changes.
PCS volunteers draw on their own experiences, along with Health in Mind training, to support someone according to that person's individual needs.
The support you offer may include:
• Working with the person to access activities or services that will improve their mental health and wellbeing
• Helping the person to work through a variety of mental health and wellbeing tools
• Spending time with the person to reduce their social anxiety and increase their confidence in social settings
