We are a community-owned non-profit shop and cafe, run mainly by volunteers. Our mission is to bring the community together, promote sustainable living and encourage healthy eating for all. Main duties: • Weekly Supplier Payments: Bank transactions and recording and reconciliation on Xero. • Monthly Payroll: Updating all employee details and hours, recording on Xero, and processing payment transactions on the bank • Monthly Pension: Monthly figures to Nest Pension • Monthly Sales and Stock Journals: Posting on Xero • Sales (Updating spreadsheet and providing 3 reports from Touch office) • Web Sales (Reporting from Wix) • Petty Cash Expenses • COS reclass from Store to Café • Month-end stock reclass between COS and balance sheet • Monthly Financial Statements: Preparing and circulation • Fixed Assets records and calculations • Quarterly VAT Declaration • Working with HMRC for PAYE and VAT • Year-end package preparing for accountant Person specification Essential • Numerate • Communication skills • Attention to detail Desirable • Background in accountancy Perks • Become part of a great team • Help the local community • Work from home

Penicuik Storehouse is a community owned shop and cafe, stocking local and ethically sourced products. We provide a space for local crafters to sell their items, and a community space for local groups. All our fruit & vegetables are organic and are supplied locally. We are looking for a volunteer who has 3 hours a week to spare. Volunteering provides a great opportunity to enhance your CV, meet new people and learn new skills Main Duties: - Packing veg boxes following guidance - eventually working out box contents by yourself - Unloading and checking veg deliveries - Pricing veg with guidance to start with, writing price tickets - Arranging fruit and veg for display Person Specification: - Genuine interest in fruit and veg, especially organic - Attention to detail - Comfortable with numbers (arithmetic) - Happy to get hands dirty!

We are looking for friendly people who have 3 hours a week to spare and would like to help out in our cafe and shop. We welcome all volunteers, and we are flexible around accommodating our volunteers needs’ and preferences. We are proud to be an inclusive organisation. Main shop tasks include: · Serving customers at the till · Taking café orders · Keeping the shop and cafe clean and tidy · Restocking shelves, fridges and fresh product Main café tasks include: · Making hot drinks using the coffee machine · Assisting with preparation of food and drinks · Serving food and drink to customers · Clearing and cleaning down tables and washing dishes and kitchen equipment.

In our shop we stock fresh produce, groceries, household products and toiletries that are local, ethical, environmentally friendly, organic, or fair trade to enable to help people live a healthier more sustainable life. In our cafe we serve healthy soups, toasties and coffee and provide a place for people to meet. We are proud to work together with a variety of other community projects and charities. This role supports our veg box scheme: as a volunteer driver you would be delivering veg boxes from the Storehouse to homes around Penicuik and neighbouring villages.
